I'm really confused about this, in my novel there are some times when profanity/blood/mental health things come into play and I usually just mark those episodes as mature, but that also seems to make my views on those episodes drop drastically. Would it be better if I just put a TW at the beginning of the episode instead??

Back before Tapas had the check mark boxes for specifically why the chapter is mature, it was common to type the warning in the beginning.

But now it changed and we have the boxes. If you say a few profanity or lightly touch a mental health topic, it could probably not be noticed and you don’t need a warning at all. But if you think it needs a warning, I’d mark it as mature regardless. Even with the written warning, a reader could report the chapter because the chapter itself wasn’t labeled with the red box or the warning screen

People who are not logged in can't see the episodes that are labeled as mature, so any reader who doesn't have an account or can't log in at the moment won't be able to read them, hence lower views.

If that's the case then I feel as if I'm kind of forced to put the mature on it. There are some parts that need it and others that just have a decent amount of profanity so it's better to be safe than sorry.

I just wish that it wouldn't mees with my view counts as much, cause my most recent episode has Lucille (the MC) getting extremely pissed off/angry and it almost escalates and stuff, so it's better for it to be there than not.

For what it's worth, if I'm reading a comic I won't even think twice about continuing forward. I'm not just going to miss part of the story like that. I'd sooner stop reading the story entirely than skip around.

I would love it if we had a 16+ marking. It always feels weird for me to put an 18+ rating on something that so many TV shows display at evening with no problem, or the big two comics have all the time (like a bit of blood or someone getting wounded). I think 18+ should be a separate tier for more explicit depictions.

I still marked all my episodes with fights and blood as mature because I don't want to accidentally break any rules and get reported.

Yeah! If there was a separate warning for 16+ stuff then it'd be better for all of those 16+ writers and creators that have blood and stuff in their creations. It would pretty much solve the problem :pensive:

A TW might be better. You don't technically have to mark any episode mature unless it is graphic and requires the tag as per content rules (nudity/sex or extreme violence). For other occasions, people will mark episodes mature just as a courtesy to their readers, not as a requirement to follow Tapas rules.

I think I might change my most recently uploaded episode to a TW instead and see how that works out, since it really is only profanity and the word blood once (in a non gory sense)

Hopefully I see what comes out of it

Huh, I just checked by opening a mature Tapas episode on an incognito tab and I can still read it. Is it a mobile thing?

I don't think so? Im pretty sure my friends that read my stuff are still able tor read mature tabbed things without an acc?

Yup, on the app, which is where most of the readers are. I also didn't think this was a problem until a friend of mine told me ._.
