Well, Clip Studio Paint and Photoshop are slowing down my computer like crazy and I despise drawing in them. I don't want to switch back to drawing traditionally just yet to create my comics. Does anyone know if there any other software for drawing that aren't well known like Krita?

Look up medibang paint pro.
I heard it's free.
I saw someone use it on YouTube.
It has a pretty nice looking interface.

I did a lot of work in Paint Tool Sai before I switched to Manga Studio/Clip Studio Paint, and it's got an interface that's pretty easy to learn your way around - there are trial versions available if you want to have a go.

If Clip is slowing your computer down then you should look if there's anything you can do in the preferences. For example unchecking the box "do not skip update after drawing" as well as set the tablet setting to 3-6 instead of "1" can help a bit(for some reason this helps issues with lag in brush strokes). Also set display quality to "default" and not "high".
Reducing the undo count helps as well, also if you use a external harddrive for your .lip files then you might wanna move them to your main drive. In general it seems to use more CPU if the computer has to be actively working on a file on a external source.

Mischief
featuring:
- infinite canvas (draw any size you want - never be afraid of resolution)
- comfy interface (their moto - just open the program and draw)
- super small file size (200 - 600 kb each for me)
- even when i close the program, shut down my laptop, wait 24 hours, open the file again, i can still use control + z without any limitation
I'm using it in place of photoshop, clip studio paint, paint tool sai and medibang paint pro

I've heard/seen good things come out of Paint Tool SAI. I unfortunately can't use it because I use a Mac, but from what I've seen I'd definitely recommend it.

I use Paint Tool SaI for drawing, Paint.net for editing, Sketchbook Pro, and I'll probably be using manga studio for comics in the future. There's also Gimp. The only thing I could recommend for comics is Paint Tool Sai because that's what I've been using. I'll totes check out the other programs people have mentioned tho >->

I use OpenCanvas 6, which is affordable and shouldn't bog down your computer. There are some bugs, but once you get used to it you figure out how to avoid them. I definitely recommend it to people looking for a photoshop alternative because the interface is pretty similar, as opposed to manga studio which has a huge learning curve for photoshop users.

Does it have a text tool I don't remember , this doesn't seem very applicable to drawing comics, more akin to illustrations. Not saying it can't be done but it seems like more work.

For some reason Paint Tool Sai won't recognize pen pressure so I kind of stopped using it and I'd like to use one program rather than 2. Due to the lack of a text tool.

It DOES have a text tool. Like I said, that's what I use. It's the ONLY program I use.

Oh , yeah i had that problem too. You gotta go to Sai's misc file and change some of the settings. I can tell you which ones worked for me if you wanna try it again.

There is a more recent problem with sai for some wacom users. Apparently the new driver update doesn't like sai. It's still usable, but the pen lags after about 10 mins so I have to reopen the file sometimes :/

And I only use sai for art because I like the way it looks and its simplicity. I've used paint.net for text in the past but I'm sure there's a better program for it.

You could try fire alpaca, it's a free program that works pretty well. It's not as good as sai or clip studio but it does have line correction and ruler settings ^^

That program looks interesting, I'm downloading the trial. What are those bugs you are talking about?

Thank you, everyone for your suggestions!

the best i found is paint tool sai
it's the best to use

I use Sketchbook Pro. It runs pretty well even on a Windows tablet with only an Atom processor.

Krita, if you don't want to buy paint tool sai, Krita offers a lot of pen options.
