Scooby doo. I always found this show boring its the same dam plot every week with a new monster costume! had many a fight with my big bro over turning the tv over with that dumb show.

Family guy now I do like some of this show and I love stewie but I don't like it when this show makes fun of disability, its a cheep trick to get cheep laughs at the expense of people who had no choice in what happened to them.

I have a deep love for good storytelling, especially when it has a lot of thought and heart behind it. Humor is one thing, and I think it has it's place, but I got REAAAALLLY burnt out really early on comedy. I've always loved action, adventure and anything that made me interested in learning about other people, folklore, ideas or cultures. The following are my picks for best stuff.

Least Faves:
I really hate dumb, shock, or pointless comedy noise. Being in the animation industry I find a lot of the work tht dumb comedies have is directly related to the 'jokes-per-minute' thing that many networks adhere to. This basically means you need X numbers of jokes per-minute and per-episode as a way of getting and keeping kids already limited attention. This is why you have so many differing styles too, the contrast of backgrounds, animation or 'super crazy' clashing art styles is all because they're trying to keep focus on the TV. While some shows can and do get away with this, the jokes end up flat or forced, and the storytelling is primitive at best. Also, when it comes to 'adult animation' like the shows in animation nation etc, it's just dumb shock humor. In comedy there's the idea of 'punching up and punching down.' Punching down means you're putting people on blast for things they can't help. For example, making fun of a poor person for being poor. It's gross, tasteless, and stupid. A lot of the shows I see using this form of comedy are shows I frankly can't stand, be they meant for adults or kids.

Favorites —

Arthur: Great kids show, it didn't talk down to the audience at all. I still find enjoyment watching it, though the new seasons with the awkward flash animation isn't as charming as the good old episodes.

The Magic School Bus: It made me appreciate science, 'nuff said.

Jackie Chan Adventures: The first show I watched that had Chinese protagonists! I was so stoked to see Chinese folklore incorporated into a mainstream TV show! And it was set in San Francisco, just 40 minutes from where I grew up! The art style was unique and inspired and it was an all-around fun adventure!

Static Shock: One of the few super hero shows I actually cared about. The characters were down-to-earth and believable. I usually never sympathize with lead superheroes, but Static/Virgil was great. I could see myself being friends with him and Richie. It was urban but not over-the-top. It was fantastic to see such a diverse cast as well.

Xioalin Showdown: Bottom line, I loved the style and characters. It felt epic and even though it was a little campy, it didn't feel campy.

Young Justice: Again, I never really was into superheroes, but this show kept my interest. I thought it was very well written, even with the second season when everything felt rushed. I was outraged when they canceled this series.

Guilty pleasures —
These aren't my favorites necessarily, but I get excited talking about them once I get over my embarrassment.

Storm Hawks: It was a pretty basic storyline, and a little cheesy, but man did it deliver. Characters were pretty awesome, especially Stork, my favorite.

Hot Wheels Battle Force 5: Also very cheesy and basically a 20 minute long commercial, but the characters very well won me over, particularly the Cortez brothers, Stanford, and Tezz.

More adult cartoons —

The Simpsons: Always will be close to my heart, since it made such an impact on me growing up. I'm only counting the first 20 seasons, after that I stopped watching every episode. I rarely tune into the new ones as I find them flatter and with less heart, though they still have their moments on occasion.

Bob's Burgers: Omg, the humor is on point, especially the Belcher kids! I like pretty much every character, except for Mr. Fishoder. I usually don't like musical numbers, but the ones on Bob's Burger are all right in my book. Sometimes I even love them, case in point, "Electric Love".

Superjail: The animation, especially for the grand destruction sequences at the end of each episode, wow me every time. I also like how touching it can be at times, like for Cancer's episode.

Metalocalypse: These boys are just ridiculous. Favorite episode has to be the one where their families visit. And Toki is just too precious.

Least Favorites —
Well I don't really watch anything if I already am turned off by the commercials but I'll make a list of the ones where I watched one or two episodes and really didn't like.

Happy Tree Friends: Really not my humor, I dunno, it doesn't feel smart or clever to me. The gore leaves a bad taste in my mouth (lol and yet I like Superjail and Metalocalypse). I suppose since it's with cute furry critters.

A lot of the 90's early 2000's Nick cartoons like Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, As Told By Ginger, Rocket Power, Angry Beavers, Cat Dog, I'M SORRY. It's not like I hate them, I just don't care for them. They never struck a chord with me.

I totally forgot to mention Scooby Doo in mine, but YES! Let the Scooby hate flow through you!
The only Scooby thing I ever found okay is the newer series/movies where the gang are up against legit paranormal problems. They actually have GASP character development! You see more of them as people and not...cardboard cut outs of tropes.

Favourite Animated Shows.

TMNT This would be the 2003 reboot. Man was that series good. It's a shame how it got murdered (Network thought it was getting too dark, so they cancelled the series and brought it back with the more light hearted kid friendly 'turtles in the future' arc) this is one of the series I like so much that I've gone back and re watched it all multiple time.

Gargoyles This one was fantastic in so many ways, and the animation is absolutely gorgeous to watch even after all these years, this is another series that I like to go back and rewatch and have done so multiple times.

South Park This one had been around a while, and though the newer stuff doesn't amuse me as much as their older stuff, I still really like them because they focus.covers a lot of real life complications and issues. Which I really appreciate, expectantly when they are issues other studios will not touch with a ten foot pole. Believe it or not this is another re watch series (even though it's so friggen long)

Avatar The Last Air Bender Was really unsure about this one at first, as it looked like an anime rip off and generally I hated a lot of cartoons that were starting to rip off anime (not the same as inspired) but I'm actually pretty happy I gave it a try. It came out a time when cartoons in general were treating the kids they were aimed at as mindless drones that didn't have a high enough attention span to watch anything that didn't have a joke every 30 seconds. (which is part of the reason whey you got a HUGE shift of viewers turning to anime, they WANTED plot, story and developments) The first season was a little slow but still solid, and the second and third were even better. Another re watch from time to time series for me. (Korra was... well it wasn't horrible but is had this issue where it either have really rushed season final... or really... weird ones...)

Young Justice I have not finished watched this series actually, but I really enjoy what I have seen so far.

Steven Universe This one was actually really difficult to get into, the first batch of episodes were very dry, I didn't hate it though and I really liked the characters and the story that was slowly being introduced. This series was undoubtedly a 'the more I watch it, the better it gets and the more I like it' I certainly was not hooked on with the first 20ish episodes, but after that as the story continues to get deeper it got me hooked.

Gravity Falls I have actually hardly watched this one (I watch it together with a friend, and we rarely have free time in our schedule that over lap for episode watching time) but I really like what I have seen so far.

The Boondocks Honestly this one dropped in appeal the further in seasons it got, but I still really enjoyed the humour and issues it would tackle.

Least Favourite.

If I don't like it, I don't watch it, and if I don't watch it it's really unfair for me to judge it (on that note I have a LOT of anime I could put under this list via siblings / friends making me watch that shit because 'it gets good later you'll love it' when it usually ****ing NEVER gets better.

Scooby Doo and Tom and Jerry are good in short bursts. I'd gladly watch some classic Scooby Doo and Tom and Jerry over Teen Titans Go or Uncle Grandpa.

On the subject of Family Guy, I never found the Down Syndrome episode funny or even that good as I knew a classmate in middle school (whos mom was a teacher at said school) who had recently acquired a sibling who was born with that. Now I'm a firm believer in that some things you can make fun of all in good taste, heck I'm an aspie and I'm no stranger to occasionally using the kind of humour where you make fun of yourself, but some things like Down Syndrome I feel you just can't really force a joke out of no matter how hard you try.

EDIT: Going back to South Park, yeah they've made fun of people with disabilities, but there's usually a bit of social commentary to go with it.

i.e, in an early episode of South Park, they made fun of the school nurse who had a fictional disability and the social commentary for that episode was that disabled people are no different from normal people and should be treated as such. What made the episode funny was that despite the town's best intentions to not make the school nurse feel like an outcast, they actually made her feel like even more of one by focusing on her disability for an entire week rather than her as a person.

Compare that to Family Guy who's humor usually amounts to "haha look at this disabled person. They can't take care of themselves. See how freaking hilarious that is? Now laugh you dumb sheep while you make Seth Macfarlane and FOX richer" In his debut episode, Joe was treated with respect because he didn't let being confined to his wheelchair ruin his outlook on life even though there were a few jokes aimed at him. My favorite being "Holy crip he's a crapple" (when Peter is shocked to learn that his replacement for Mr Weed's softball player is crippled from the waist down)

Nowadays, he lets his disability get to him and is often the butt of jokes that fall flat when he's hanging out with his friends whom he could technically arrest as a cop for some of the shenanigans they pull.

Yes!! This was the only Scooby Doo series I ever liked! We marathoned it on Netflix before it was pulled! The plot-line was excellent and gave the entire franchise more depth. I really enjoyed the cameos by old Scooby Doo villains and other Hanna-Barbera characters even if I didn't care much for them. It was nice that they paid homage to the original stuff. It was severely underrated in my opinion.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I was absolutely in love with the art direction. The color palettes of the scenery and settings were to die for. I would totally buy an art book of it.

Steven Universe I can understand why a lot of people like this show and I like that it has a diverse cast but I just couldn't get into it >m< and the fan base kinda drove me away too.

Black Butler I thought it was okay until Grell came in and ruined everything. I feel like I'm the only one on the planet who actually hates this character with a burning passion. Whenever my friend and I go to the mall he'll find merch that has Grell on it, it's become an ongoing joke for him really. Last time I told him to give me a lighter so I could light the plushie on fire.

Miraculous Ladybug: I just fell in love with this show, I love the characters, everything, specially Adrien, he's our bae <3
RWBY: I love it, simply that, and the recent episodes are killing my emotions too much, hhhh.
Avatar The Last Airbender: I watched it from the beginning to the end and never got bored of it, I loved how the plot went evolving along with the characters.
Teen Titans: I remember this one, it was great, I still cry for Terra, c'mon! it was a great series and I wanted it to continue longer. Oh yeah, most times I wanted to slap Robin for not noticing the obvious feelings of Star. xD
Yin Yang Yo: Bunnies practicing martial arts with magic? I loved it, so sad it got cancelled and only have two seasons, cause the show had potential for more, there were too many interesting characters, and there was a chance for the main evil to come back again.
Dave, The Barbarian: (sorry, I think that's the name in english, I don't remember well), Dave gave me good memories with all their characters, their adventures (?), the goddamn dragon of Dave which never did a thing except fart. I still remember the "and then Dave improvised a megaphone using a squirrell, a rope, and.....a megaphone"
Gravity Falls: it's a good show which made me company in rainy days, I liked the concepts and the crazy things Mabel came up with.
Gargoyles: I barely remember this show cause it's pretty old, but I remember loving it and getting up early cause the people here had the brilliant idea to air it around 8 am in the weekend!
Kids Next Door: Probably the show I miss the most, I recall talking about it with friends about SHIPPINGS xD, but I still remember the final episode of this show, and I still feel sad for that!
Pinky & the Brain: I loved Pinky
Fairly Oddparents: ONLY the old ones, and I count from chapter 1 until the episode of the TV Channels which in my mind is like the ending. Whatever thing that came up after that is simple a NOPE for me.
Justice League: My sister made me watch this, and because of it my favorite was Green Arrow xD he was cool, he needed more screentime
Tom and Jerry: I grew up with this show, I love it, but not the new one. I don't know, the old one had a special charm in it which in the new ones got lost.

Most of my favorite cartoons are pretty much the ones not on air anymore. I'm just not interested in today's cartoons on CN and Nickelodeon.

-----The Favorites:

Rocko's Modern Life - I use South Park as the primary influence for my comic but Rocko's Modern Life is in reality my top favorite cartoon. All of the characters are lovable and the writing is witty and clever to both children and adults. It was like the Seinfeld of cartoons, focusing on single life and dog-eat-dog city humor.

South Park - Are second up. Out of ANY show I watched, South Park did the most evolving, and it's one of those very rare shows where the later seasons triumphs over the early ones. Coming from spastic, toilet humor and now it's making these satirical and no-apologies stances towards mainstream society.

Ed, Edd & Eddy - What's very interesting about this is that I was never into the neighborhood & kid type of shows like Doug or Hey Arnold! Ed, Edd & Eddy was different, and I guess that's because on its heavier emphasis on slapstick and the creative, unique atmosphere. There are no cameos either, every character shown in the show is a developed character.

Courage the Cowardly Dog - This show is so creative and twisted. Out-of-place farmhouse, quirky, out-of-touch-but-it-strangely-works type of characters, spoopy unusual things happen.

Samurai Jack - About a single Samurai's journey. The art style and action is all beautiful but what makes this stand out is its emphasis on solitaire. Sure, there are villagers and aides but in the end it's really about a no-BS single protagonist.

Futurama - I almost forgot this!

-----The Blahs and Nahs:

Aqua Teen Hungerforce - I do not understand the appeal of this show. I can't find this funny. Plus it bothers me a little to how discount it feels. I'm sure that's all in the aesthetic but I don't like it.

Archer - Another show I don't understand the appeal of. To me, it's chatty, slowly paced and boring.

Family Guy - This was okay the first couple of seasons as like a Simpsons knock-off sort of way, but things I don't like in my comedys is when one acts unnecessarily vulgar and Family Guy likes doing that.

Drawn Together - An even worse offender of the whole "unnecessarily vulgar" is this show. All it really is is toilet humor, tired attacks on stereotypes and unpleasant comedy.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - This show is on here because I have yet to understand the brony's existence. I tried this a couple of times expecting like the next Rocko's Modern Life and it just seems like a show meant for young girls.

-----Other Shows I Feel the Need to Comment On:

The Simpsons - There was truly heart into this show in the past but I feel the spirit is long dead. Today's Simpsons feature even the main characters become one-dimensional caricatures of themselves, and at worst defy their own character development. Celebrity appearances and cheap plot teasers like hinting a death in the show, turning out to be a deep, tertiary character like Krusty's father are what pretty much drive what little ratings this show has.

Moonbeam City - When I saw the pilot when it came after South Park, I was like, yeah okay, it has something, so I kept following and I kept getting more interested in it. Firstly, I am a sucker of the 80s image and culture. I also love the over-the-top cops and robbers action the show provides along with the mild absurdity and left-field humor. Then... It changed its slot to a much much later time, like 1:00am. Probably sighting that ratings were bad, until I watched it to really find out why: It got overly sexual and unnecessarily vulgar. I was put off since then and I'm just guessing Moonbeam City was getting desperate at this point. I expect it to end after its first season after obscuring itself like that.

FAVES
Adventure time - For years now I've been religiously watching every episode and I feel like it only gets better. Every year I find myself raving over their finales. The finales are so amazing. STAKES though! That was an absolutely amazing arch. Not getting sick of AT any time soon.
SOUTH PARK - I don't know where to start. Safe to say if you even mention south park anywhere near me, you're gonna have to deal with a excruciatingly long speech from me. I've practically seen everything that has to do with south park. OMG is it September yet, I need to watch. Also, just wanna add that Kenny is the best and Matt and Trey are my heroes.
Steven Universe - Without a doubt one of the most beautiful cartoons/stories ever created. I literally cry when I watch that show. The fandom kinda ruins it though but I just ignore them now. Steven Universe is revolutionary!
Miraculous Ladybug - I love the show but I also wished they did something more elaborate. I feel like being a kids show, they kinda oversimplified the story but nonetheless its still great. I will ship ladynoir to the ends of the earth.
Gravity Falls - omg it's ending I am not ready for the emotional suffering. Also jsyk I have a pile of bill cipher stickers in my bag and I'm gonna post them everywhere during the finale haha
Rick and Morty - ughhh I've been waiting 287528243627 years wubbalubadubdub. I need more damn it. Rick and Morty is so cleverly written and I think it deserves more recognition.
Daria - Daria and Jane are #goals I have no reason not to love this show.
ATLA / TLOK - I'm still not over it. STILL NOT. Can't wait to read the comics
PPG - There's a very special place in my heart for this show. I hope the reboot does justice +-+
Regular Show - Ok not the highest on my list but its a good show. A jolly good show indeed haha ok I have a crush on the guy who voices pops, benson and muscle man.
Invader Zim - doom doom do doom, I love dark themed cartoons. I think the art of that show really influenced me.
MLP - I do love this show, I really do. Rarity speaks to me on a spiritual level
Ed Edd & Eddy - I'm still in this fandom //sob/ there's not enough content
SVTFOE- I've been waiting for the disney princess like this for a long time haha
WBB - Who doesn't love the bears.
Totally Spies - Just like ppg, I really loved this show.
Rugrats - What kind of childhood would I have without this show.
OTGW - A mini series so powerful, I'm still loving it. It was perfectly executed.

Not so fave...
Sanjay and Craig, Ren and Stimply, Happy Three Friends and new spongebob. Meh I just... no.

Love your 90's Nick choices, yo, and I was a HUGE fan of Ed, Edd 'n Eddy in junior high, haha~ I loved the fact that the cast was so small! Especially early on, with no adults or crowd characters. It was really surreal, suburban stuff!

Other cartoons I really, really love:

Watch My Chops/Corneil & Bernie -- Absolutely adore the animation style, it is endlessly amazing to watch. Gorgeous French animation, aaa. And the textured patterns in the characters are beautiful things. But I think I was most entertained by how awful the two main characters were to each other. Brutal! Sharing a major secret with someone as vain, ignorant, arrogant, and scheming couldn't be more fun, haha^^

Zetsubou Sensei -- I have actually only seen... god, maybe 5 or 6 episodes of this when it was just coming out years ago. But I remember I fell in love with how absurd it was. And the geometric shapes of everything, hyper-simplified but nicely detailed. And more patterns! I'm a fan of patterns, nice patterns and quirky characters all over in Zetsubou Sensei.

Dan Vs -- Having completely overlooked this TO ITS FACE because it seemed like some crappy flash show, my brother and I caught a bit of a commercial for it while watching Jem (of all things) and we finally decided to break down and watch it. I AM SO GLAD WE DID, it's my favourite of the last 5 years, man. Angry, horrible, bitter little man exacting daily revenge with his doofy, spacey friend/sidekick. It's just hysterical thanks to the acute rage the main character goes through. And there are some super silly things in it, it's really fun!

Cartoons I don't love so much, I really... this is old by now, but I don't like Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, or Gumball. My little brothers all love it and I've sat through more than my fair share of episodes... they're mostly very simple visually. They love it for the humour which is simply personal preference so I wouldn't say it's a bad show. They're very successful commercially!

Off the top of my head, as for fave western animated shows that I've watched - Dan Vs and OTGW...
Gravity Falls and Star vs the Forces of Evil are definitely up there, they're in the If I Can Get Past The First Three Episodes category. I also like Bob's Burgers but mainly for playing in the BG while I'm doing something else.

As for least favorites, quite frankly Steven Universe. I can applaud what it's doing representation wise and so on, but imo there are too many negatives (style, pacing, etc) for me to actually like the show itself.

- Invader Zim (So overrated it hurts. It doesn't help that I worked at a Hot Topic once..)
- The Oblongs (Just...why. Why does it even exist?)
- Ergo Proxy (I can go on and on about what a huge effing letdown this series was.)

I really am surprised that I can't think of more shows I dislike, in general I tend to be pretty vocal about things I don't like when they are on my mind. Right now though, I can't remember any more. XD

Oh man, favourites? Leaving aside One Piece (oh One Piece, you are my one true animated love <3 <3 <3) on the anime side of things, let's get to it!

Favourites

Steven Universe - There are no WORDS for how much I love this show. I only catch it when it airs on TV, because I'm a very busy person, which means I haven't seen ALL of it, but what I HAVE seen has been absolutely brilliant. It's just so friendly. It's like someone throwing the door open and giving you a big hug and welcoming you inside. I love pretty much all of them, including Steven's lazy-pants dad, but Garnet is my favourite. She's the coolest! <3

Over the Garden Wall - again, I still haven't seen all of it, but oh my gosh. I did NOT expect to be so spooked by a cartoon for a younger demographic, but OtGW scared the pants off me. This may or may not be because I'm a big old scaredy-cat, but STILL. Also: I saw the cutest Wirt-cosplayer at the last con I was at and it was the cutest.

Gravity Falls - Same as with OtGW. There's just something about the mystery and the adventure and the absolutely GORGEOUS settings that gets my heart beating.

Adventure Time - always weird, always entertaining, always full of things that make you go "Wait, did they just...?"

Avatar the Last Airbender - I think I'm the only person alive on the internet who still hasn't managed to get through all of the episodes? I've got the box set, and crammed season 1+2 last time I had a cold, and I'm waiting for a good opportunity to binge on season 3. I'm gonna go out on a limb and put The Legend of Korra here too, because what I've seen of it has been amazing.

Honourable mentions here, as I'm sure you were looking for current shows, not ones that haven't aired in years: TaleSpin, Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers and Pirates of Dark Water. Also, Batman: The Animated Series will always and forever be my definitive version of Batman.

Least Favourite

South Park, Family Guy, and American Dad - These all end up in the same box for me. The box of stuff that I REALLY don't find funny, and that for me don't accomplish much in the way of straight up satire either. I know that at least South Park attempts social commentary at times, but it's just.... buried under a lot of stuff that makes me desperately want to change the channel and also maybe go wash my hands. It fails that most basic test of comedy - it's not funny. Add to that the constant gory violence and/or blatant sexual jokes, and it is SO not for me.
