Female readers of Tapastic, What Shonen series is your favorite?

I guess I could ask this to the creators as well. So what is your favorite series?

Right now it's Noragami, hands down. The art is beautiful, and I love how the characters and the drama elements of it always feel more important than the action scenes. It's the only manga I've been keeping up to date on because I just love the story so much. ^^

As for some honorable mentions, I also really like Jojo's Bizzare Adventure a lot. I used to be really involved in the fandom and had a crack ask blog for Yasuho Hirose, but I got bored of it after a while as the fandom started to grate on me. Hunter x Hunter is also excellent, imho. It's consistently really fun and surprising, and the Chimera Ants arc was probably the best shounen arc I've ever read, with how interesting all the characters were in that arc. Magi was one of my first shounen anime/manga, and it holds a special place in my heart. I'm wayyy behind on it but I still really love the older arcs and I want to catch up withe the current story.

I'm currently watching Gurren Lagann for the first time, I sure do love it for it's over the topness, as much as anything from studio gainax.
Panty and Stocking is also my guilty pleasure and this is coming from someone who can't watch 2 seconds of fanservice in any other anime. Then again PSG had a massive female audience so i'm not the only one. Also FLCL as well?

I have no idea if this even counts as shonen but I watched a bunch of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and I love it. I keep meaning to finish all the episodes but I keep forgetting :/

I'm fairly in love with Yowamushi Pedal although I'm waaaaay behind because I don't watch a lot of anime - most of the time if I'm watching TV I try to be inking as well, and that's impossible while reading subs. I'm a semi serious cyclist, so the series really hits me in all the right places! Plus I love those weird ass character designs.

FMA is always the best in my opinion, but that's too easy. Eureka 7 is great, Gurren Lagann is a given...

To name something slightly more 'out there', Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, D.Gray-Man, and Blue Exorcist are my recommendations (preferably the manga for each).

Gintama is awesome, definitely one of my favourite series. Nothing too deep, but it's one of the funniest comedies that's come out of Japan. Not to mention the heroine is kickass.

Aside from that I also enjoyed FMA, and for non action based, GSNK is great too (even though people think it's a shoujo)

I consume the standard stuff, one piece, Boku no Hero academia, One punch man... I also like korean webtoons like tower of god and Noblesse.

Noblesse is especially a guilty pleasure. All dem half nekkid fighting pretty boys.

I've always watched a lot of shonen stuff XD And I mean A LOT.
But my favs out of the top of my head are Dragon Ball Z, One Piece and recently Yowamushi Pedal. I really enjoyed Hajime no Ippo and Haikyuu too.

One Punch Man is the current one. Hajime no ippo is one I'll always return to. Other than those, I'm pretty lazy shonen reader since the stories seem never-ending.

Inuyasha is number one. Number one shonen anime and in my top five favourite all time animes

But i also love FMA, Tsubasa reservoir chronicles, and soul eater.

I've never watched one punch man or jojo's bizarre adventure but i kinda like them too they look like good anime.
but in the end I'm very much a shojo anime watching type girl.

One Piece! I'm dreadfully behind (too much time drawing, not enough time catching up on One Piece), but I love it so much.

I mainly watch the anime, because I love the way it all looks in motion and the soundtrack is great, and I've been watching it pretty much regularly for, uh, twelve years now? I just love it so much!

What I love most about it - and the thing that attracts me to most shounen series I enjoy - is the sheer, unbridled feeling it's packed with. One Piece is packed top to bottom with a kind of fierce humanity and passion that just gets to me. OP is full of people who cry their goddamn hearts out till snot comes out of their noses, who bleed and fail and get beaten down and get back up and who go to die for what they believe in, and what they believe in is a better world. It deals with big, serious themes like slavery, totalitarian regimes, the fragility of life, taking responsibility for the consequences of one's actions, the repeated cycles of violence breeding more violence, etc. - and also has a main character made of rubber, another who is a giant cyborg in speedoes, and a repeated gag of people sticking chopsticks in their nose.

There's something for everyone!

I have dipped my toes into a bunch of other shounen - Gurren Lagann, Yowamushi Pedal, Eyeshield 21, FMA, Bleach, etc., - but One Piece is my one true shounen-love.

I'm gonna start sounding like a broken record, but Bleach and Dragon Ball are my childhood defining shounen manga.
Rurouni Kenshin also holds a special place in my heart. I haven't really had time to follow new series recently, but I'm eyeing this Boku no Hero Academia. Art seems nice.
Also , if you would've asked me a couple of years ago if I like sports manga I would've laughed in your face. Now,? KnB and Haikyuu all the way , and I am actively keeping myself from watching anything else lest it consume whatever little free time I have left.

i saw this and nodded, like, "yes i understand". i didn't think a sports manga could be interesting but then back in high-school i read Eyeshield 21 and my world changed lmao
i started to actively seek out sports series to read. i love Slam Dunk, Baby Steps and Haikyuu!! although i'm certain i'm blanking on a bunch rn. For me, Haikyuu!! is the one sports series that has managed to make me miss ES21 a little less.

my fave shounen manga are My Hero Academia and Haikyuu!!. Gintama is golden. FMA is in my heart forever as my first anime love haha~ And, of course, One Piece. OP was, like, the best to me for a while.

My Hero Academia is great to me because i adore the art style (it makes the action a delight to read) and the cast is A+++. Deku is a big fave protag for me - he's cool and smart yet he's still a kid who makes dumb mistakes and does lame things. he's incredibly adorable? and i love his shoes. MHA is p much OP#2 to me, similarly how OP is DB#2. it's like watching an older generation titan inspiring the next gen titan, altho whether MHA makes it to such heights is yet to be seen.
