I posted a page format comic there like 2? years ago and it got like 15 readers and one comment that was like "I like this" and so...that's about my experience. Luckily this was a finished comic so I wasn't that sad by it, that and my comic was like black and white and very hard to read on the phone cuz the text was a little itty.

I post traditionell page format both on tapas and webtoon, i do much better on tapas than on webtoon...
i barely care about webtoon tho, i just have it for the few that might prefer it, but i never get notice when you get a comment or a like or anything so i feel like the comic over there gets no attention at all caus i cant "see" it if it makes sense :sweat_02:

I posted there for a while but if I get zero engagement I just stop posting there. I dislike that site in general, comment notifications are really a feature that they should implement.

I posted as page format on Webtoon for about... six months or so? Got very little traction. So I sighed and reformatted to scroll format, and...

... nope, still no traction. I have exactly two regular commenters, and they prefer the scroll format, so I guess I'm sticking with it because I don't want to alienate the only people who actually interact, but... moving to scroll format wasn't a magical panacea.

Have to agree with @sushy00 when half the goal is to engage with any readers you have it would be nice if webtoons actually had a notification tab that let you know about a activity on your work, otherwise sometimes I just scroll and realize someone’s commented a heartfelt appreciation and it was like 2 months ago and not responded too -_- otherwise for the scroll format I honestly started pretty early in my comic making with that, I just like the way it works so well, although as a reader, I’ll read any format honestly, so long as the font is legible!

OH! Also @Scarlet_Cryptid I read your comic on webtoon! Lol and if it helps I’d still read it in traditional comic style ^^

I post mostly black and white page style on Webtoons and on Tapas and I get more traction on Webtoons than on Tapas. In the beginning I was asked fairly frequently "why are the episodes so short?" because I guess it felt to readers like I was only posting a single panel. Normally I post 1-2 pages per update that are comprised of several panels each and I do not reformat them for scrolling. I've had some readers say they liked the page format better compared to comics where they have to scroll and scroll through white space where the panels are far apart.

For me page-style works for my story better than scroll format due to how I set up the pages and because they are more manga-like for reading.

Some types of series do better in the scroll format where as others seem to be more popular either as single page or a sort of hybrid between the two. There's no right or wrong way to post, people will either decide to read or not read a series regardless of how it's set up.

I actually downloaded an add-on that does this, so I DO get notifications when someone comments on Webtoon. (Although I hardly need it... all I have to do most days is watch the number of likes rise by one or two, and that's enough to let me know that you or the other commenter stopped by and said something. XD) So this IS possible, it just doesn't come from Webtoon.

... god I wish I could remember where the link went...

And thank you so much for reading my comic, I'm glad you like it!

My stuff is mostly grayscale pages. When I first joined Webtoons, I was actually doing better there then on Tapas. But suddenly I just stopped getting readers or likes. And when I posted new series, the same thing happens. I get some readers on Tapas, but Webtoons is just always dead. I still post there because maybe hopefully someone might discover my work there, and maybe people are reading it who don't have an account, IDK.

I have been posting my super old series there and seeing how that works out. It's strange that my less polished comic is doing better then the one I put more effort into.

I had to look back to my 2019 social media posts to remember but I did for a couple months post a page format comic just to try out webtoon on my own (I had previously only done a featured comic for them so I wanted to see what the posting experience was like).

Before I even posted it to my socials it was doing very well on its own since I was updating like nearly daily in four page chunks. Granted these pages were very simple layouts with lettering that read very clear on mobile. I think in the first week I got a couple hundred subs and WT had promoted it a lot in their ~new~ section or whatever it was. I have no idea if I was getting a lot of traction because the comic was very different than a lotta the stuff that was already there or if I was getting promoted because they recognized I was previously featured even though I had to make a new username???

I also have a pretty substantial following and after sharing it on socials I got to 10k subs in a month and in a couple like close to 20k but I had to stop updating because it was getting published.

I started posting pages there a year or two ago, but soon got the comment that they were very difficult to read. Went and tested in the app, and yep. When zoomed, the text on the Webtoons app wasn't readable. (Not so much a problem with Tapas app.)

Then I reformatted it into a scroll format and got more readers. (But cutting up the pages just takes so much time that for now I'm only posting in page format on Tapas.)

I tried this addon caus i saw others recommended it in some other thread ages ago, but i get no notices from it at all :C is there more addons and im having the wrong one ?

Way back when, before I did a reboot, I got way more traction on smackjeeves posting as a page comic. I had always planned to reformat into scroll for tapas / wt but then rebooted when sj went kaput and well... I miss the page format but I just don't have the bandwidth to do two formats.

This is the one I'm using. It's for Chrome, so if you're using a different browser, I can't make any promises. Might also we worth checking the version you've got, because I think the creator updated it recently?

yep its the one im using (i use chrome as well) and it looks like i got the latest version

i get no notification when someone comments and when checking the comments in/out it shows me nothing :sweat_02:

  1. First tried uploading regular pages, but people preferred scroll format. (800px width restriction did not help, as pages are usually wider than scrolls.)
  2. I tried rearranging my panels into scroll format but it was bad (I don't hate scroll format, my second comic is like that, but I do believe that the scroll version needs to be created with that in mind, not simply rearranged).
  3. Webtoons ended up removing my comic anyway lol, due to sex scenes.

Overall, not great.

I don’t get notifications from it and I noticed that sometimes the comments don’t load right away. You might have to scroll down and click on the 1 at the bottom in the section to go the the next page. It you have a lot of comments, it might take a while to load.

haha no i have very very few comments but i noticed the other day i missed a few comments from like some months ago and a recent one, there is nothing of it from that addon, its completely empty?

I publish with the same format both in Webtoon and in Tapas, (I don't change it, nor do I add anything) but something very curious happened to me, I read a comment on Twitter from another creator about putting "BL" in the title of the comic, the truth is that I never cared about that, but it made me curious, I did it and the number of subscribers doubled in less than two days, it seems strange to me.

I consider removing it over time, I'll wait what will happen later.
