Some pretty weird stuff can go down at conventions...... Have you had any funny/weird moments at conventions? (don't share anything tooooo inappropriate)

I have one! I cosplayed as Fionna one time when I was 12 to an anime convention and at the convention they have this crunchyroll booth (crunchyroll is an anime watching site) And theres a tv that records everything the people in front of the camera do and streams to people on the crunchyroll site where they can type thing s that will then scroll across the screen.... So I walked by and looked at it from a little bit away and all the "COME HERE LITTLE FIONNA! COME CLOSER LITTLE GIRL! Aww, what cute fionna!" I was slightly terrified slightly amused. And that would happen WHENEVER I walked by. They would people in front of the camera and I would walk by like 15 feet away and "LOOK! ITS THE LITTLE FIONNA!" XD They loved me....

Back in 2011 my drawing circle got a table at the Alternate Press Expo. Our circle leader wanted to do an anthology of comics, which is where my Tapastic comic originally debuted (if you can call it that). Anyhow, we all knew that our book wasn't going to sell like gangbusters or anything. We were just doing it for fun, or as my buddy called it "a glorified fishing trip."

Before the convention we got some snacks -- mostly we brought cans of Pringles. Friends old and new stopped by and some folks bought our book or at least flipped through it. At the very end of the con, as we were packing up, this Chinese lady comes up to our table. Of course, we're keen to show her our book, but she didn't really seem interested in that. Instead she was interested in the Pringles. We kinda shrugged and said she could have some, if she really wanted chips, but she insisted on buying the can, or the book, we really had no idea what she wanted. At first, since we were packing up, we just offered it to her. We offered her a fresh can of Pringles, but she refused it because she wanted to pay. "How much?" she kept asking. So my friend throws out a price: "uh, 2 dollars."

"2 dollars? No, too much." I guess that sums up our APE experience: we couldn't even sell a can of Pringles.

I'd considered cosplaying once or twice, but I'm not comfortable getting so much attention from strangers like that, haha.

2-3 years ago I was browsing the Artist Alley and just happened to pass by some guy advertising his comic from his table - so he persuaded me and a nearby woman to listen to a summary, handed us some copies to browse through; the protagonist, he said, was a nymphomaniac, and while I don't remember the details of the plot I remember I got the impression this was probably one of the more sexually explicit comics.

And then the woman interrupted him, pointed at me, and said something along the lines of: "I don't think she's old enough to be hearing things like this."

I'm used to people underestimating my age - at this point in time I was often mistaken for an elementary/middle-schooler - but God, that patronizing tone in her voice, I just had to tell her: "Oh, no, I'm sixteen, miss."

And then her jaw dropped. I remember her expression vividly. The guy raised an eyebrow at her like he'd won an argument. It was hilarious.

My weirdest con experience was at my first table at my first con as an artist rather than an atendee

it was a rather small con, so there was plently of standing room in the AA. and this guy....just...wouldnt leave my table. He just stood there and awkwardly stared at me at me and every now and then attempted the most awkward attempts at conversation.

But he just was in the way or both other artists booths, and other people looking at my table and was just...really leering at me and creepy. I told me to go away (in nice ways) SEVERAL times. and he didnt get the hint. It got to the point where a friend who i knew was coming soon, i had pretend to be my boyfriend upon arrival (he brought me cinnabon and hugged me and called me sweety) and the guy STILL didnt get the hint? I EVEN LEFT MY TABLE for half an hour and came back to him still there ;_;

once the alley was closed and the general public kicked out, the girls beside me were even like "did you know that guy? He wouldnt leave you alone!" OTL

I WAS DRESSED UP LIKE A LITTLE BOY. WHY!?

He tried to follow after the con too but we took some back exits to avoid him @_@

Whoa..... that's super creepy Chaser..... Something kinda like that happened to me once to but not as extreme as that.... I was in line to get a pass with my mom and big brother (yeah my mom goes to anime conventions XD) and this super creepy middle aged guy (when I say super creepy, I mean he looked SUPER creepy) dressed up as a a pokemon trainer took his little fenniken and waved its paw at me and smiled this super creepy smile.... My big brother (whos 18 and 6'6) cut into the line between me and the guy.... and I was still like.... 12 at this time.... So after that where ever me and my family went we always seemed to see this guy... it was creepy... and the very next convention we went to the same guy was there, In the same exact outift...... It kinda freaked me out a little....

Haha! X3 I have to say, that's pretty hilarious. That woman must have loved pringles....

Your Pokemans story is super creepy, and @pastchaser's story is also creepy. Yeah, the Asian lady was pretty tame in comparison. We were just confused by her.

SpiderMan cartwheeled into my groin.... but it happens. XD

This is weird and sad, I hope that's OK.

At a convention some friends and I went to a panel for voice acting. Head of the panel was a voice actor director. I can't remember his name or the anime sorry, it was for anime my friends were more into. But we really liked the guy and ended up hanging out with him most of the convention. He looked really stressed and tired. It seemed to make him happy we hung out with him. He also was really interested in hiring one of my friends. A few weeks after the convention, we didn't get a call from him. We thought it was odd being he kept telling how much he wanted my friend for voice acting. We looked him up on line and found out he died right after the convention. We all feel silent around the computer for quite a while.

Hm. Not to many creepy stories to tell, though I've been going to conventions for the last 6-7 years. There was a time I felt like I was being stalked but maybe they just wanted to take a picture of my costume.

At ACen (i go there every year), there's this guy who dresses up as buddy christ or thumbs up jesus and I literally find him every year, ask for his picture and he does the same exact pose. It always cracked me up when I'd find jesus at the rave though.

It don't have to be creepy! Just something weird or funny or interesting! Ahaha.... I've done that before.... I kinda sorta chased someone across the convention to get their picture.... eh heh...

Umm...this might not be interesting at all but I just found it amusing. I attended an anime con a while back and this old couple was walking around artist alley and they stopped in front of some booth. The old man was like,"What's.......yaoi??" They were just standing there for while and the lady that he was with was like, "Oh...Ohhh, oh, I know..." And she was trying to explain to the old man and I think the man didn't have very good hearing so he kept saying "Huh?? What?" And she kept explaining it louder in his ear. It was just one of those silly moments that I remembered.
