Genuinely, what is the point of Sub for Sub?

see that's just how it should be. Some of my readers are my comic friends form instagram (on webtoon not here) However I've noticed there are comic creators who expect me to sub4sub with them when we never ever agreed to it. This expected sub 4 sub behaviour is especially bad on Reddit. Like I'll post some comic art and someone will be like "I subbed to your comic now please subscribe to mine" it's really annoying and I wonder if they ever just stop and think..."why didn't she sub to my comic"

Sub for sub
Because some people don’t have access to any other sites for whatever reason like region block or just the situation, and for some people, this might be the only way to advertise

I was able to get a few readers from regular promotion theads. Do people in sub for sub threads even go on to actually read the comic after?

They're pointless. Sub 4 sub can get you many subscribers but not a lot of readers. It's just wasting both parties time with the illusion that you're getting popular.
