So I was using tapastic on my phone and wanted to read some comments when

To myself who can't get the tapastic app, and to my friend that I spoke to who can get the app, this was a very useless and ableist thing to add. It frustrates me quite a bit. A lot actually.

I could understand a "Please log in to read all the comments" but forcing the app down people's throats like this really turns me off from the site.

I use the full site view when I'm looking at my activity but otherwise , on my phone at least, its annoying to use the full site layout for actually viewing the comments. Although I agree, I 100% prefer the desktop layout.

I absolutely agree. This is a really bad move on their part. Disabling a huge chunk of your userbase is never clever. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Oh good, I'm not the only one who hates it.
I mean, at least check if I'm using a phone that even supports the app.

I hate it too =.=

The app totally confuses me! I can't work with it at all x.x
Sometimes when I wake up at night I pick up my phone to check if I have any new comments, now I get this message to download the app...
And where are all the adds in the app? I thought it had adds too? But I didn't see any, doesn't this hurt the revenue too??

I hate this as well. Nothing turns me off more than "well well well. Looks like we finally caught you on your phone! Want to go on this website? Too bad you don't have the APP!". And what's worse is they're doing this in reverse as well. Only making some things accessible online and the rest on your phone.

Yess! This is so true! Everything feels so divided!

I mean, come on Tapastic, I'd get the app if it had ANYTHING for creators and if it didn't suck data like nobody's business. When I used it it just seemed clunky...

I can't say I've run into this because I use the app (^#Q&#@Q& about that app for several reasons), but this does feel like a very low blow. Especially since a lot of people resort to that because for whatever reason they can't get the app working on their phones. At the least (and I'm not saying this action is right or justified) at least it's the comments that are getting put behind a wall and NOT the comic pages themselves. (still not justifying it. Just expressing that I'm glad it's not worse)

In concerns to ads though, they have actually be placed within the app (I've been informed by a comment on one of my pages left by a readers, as well as I've seen them myself) they're a little clunky and can be sometimes awkward but they are there. (They also tend to confuse some readers into thinking that they can no longer read comments on the ap because of the way the ads are displayed, so it's still problematic and needs some work)

@JessJackdaw I know. I only go on the app if I find a new series that has like 200 pages to easily binge read. Otherwise, there is no point really.. I can't even look at my messages at all :/

While as a reader, I sometimes glance at the comments on someone else's comic, I'm only really invested in reading all the comments on my own comic. The app has nothing else to offer creators, so forcing us to use it to access our comments seems a bit counterproductive. We're only going to go right back to the browser again to access the rest of the creator-centric features.

It makes it difficult to find the new comments people leave for me, which is frustrating. Comments on the mobile site were pretty buggy though, so hopefully it's just a temporary "fix".

I don't recall having any issues with comments on the mobile site before this. Double posting, sometimes. Which issues did you have?

I do the exact same thing when I want to do a quick check for comments/likes/literally anything that requires any sort of dashboard interaction on the site via mobile stuck_out_tongue

Comments appearing twice, comments missing and replies attached to the wrong comment. Generally just jumbled up. Usually happened when you followed a link from the notifications area.

@Louistrations I get that issue all the time when using the main website on the computer too, so it's not just mobile
