Sharks (and most fish actually) have an organ/body part called the lateral line, and you can see it dotted down here. It's used to detect tiny vibrations in the water to help it hunt and navigate in low visibility:

Not to be mistaken with their coloring, which is called countershading (light belly, dark back). It's camouflage so the creatures swimming below them can't spot them easily when they look up toward the surface. Also, most sharks breathe by opening their mouths and swimming as fast as they can to force the water through their gills. They physically can't stay still or else they drown. Unless you're a wobbegong (carpet shark). You can chill.
