For some people, the answer to that question is a terrifying prospect.
I think one of the central tenants of the "laws of Attraction" trope is that if it can bring about positive change, it can also bring about negative.
A tame example of this is an episode of The Simpsons where Homer made a wish with Ned Flanders with a wishbone, got the big piece having just wished for Ned's business to tank. It's something Homer really wanted and he celebrated in that misery until the guilt was too much to deal with.
On a personal note, I don't really believe in the laws of attraction as it is explained by quantum theory. I believe it in the sense that, your outward positive aura can affect people's perception of you but this is also not necessarily a good thing as it can lead to some bad people thinking they can take advantage of your change of attitude. The laws of attraction still require action on your part and, as a result, people don't give themselves enough credit for the effort you have put in to make a dream or goal come to fruition.
I do kind of believe in prayer and wishing but whether or not it comes true is still based around how much effort you put into what it is you actually want. For example, I started to fall for a friend I've known for a few years, this sort of thing never works in my favor so I didn't think much of it until February of this year when there was an actual heart-thumping attraction happening between us. He asked me out and here we are 7 months later. It was both a wish and something I helped to set into motion by being in his circle and dropping tiny hints to see how he would react.
I know that seems like a weird way to explain it but..there it is. :>
