Cool, must be since I got a nice response so quickly! I had a friend who got me interested in submitting my own comic, but he isn't getting the best response from his. He is far better than I, so I am a little worried about sharing mine.

The biggest thing I think I didn't realize when I joined this site is if you actually want your subscribers to see the stuff you post on your wall, make sure you hit that little bell at the bottom of your post. :'D Apparently I wasn't the only person to miss this and was talking to air for weeks before someone told me.
Also, make sure you don't upload your comic all at once. Think about it this way: You can put everything in one episode and appear in the "new" section just once, or you can put 10 pages in 10 separate episodes and be in the "new" section 10 times.

never take the last doughnut it's mine! .... na just kidding welcome to the forum

Here is the Tapastic F.A.Q.s2 and also a little info on publishing.4
If you have any specific questions you can ask or browse the forums to see if someone else has asked them before.

I also agree with what @Riko said about spreading out your posts. The language can be a little confusing since it says "episodes" and a lot of people take that to mean "issues"... but I personally put one page per episode so I get the maximum amount of visibility.

Hello there!

It depends. Originality, art, plot, etc. can all be determining factors, but it usually takes some time to get attention since you have to find your audience.

What comic did your friend do?

Just share it! How will we know if you don't upload it. As for reader response/feedback, it's different for everyone. Some comics will start out strong while others will start slow. Just give it some time.

im new too and still learning ! and this is seriously the nicest place i've ever chatted. XD I was also nervous about submitting my comic here, and put it off till i had 5 pages done, I didn't think i was good enough to be among the great ones that i saw on this site. Also my story Los E.1 is kind of brutal so i was unsure if it was even acceptable then i just one day said...well if it sucks it sucks and just kinda went for it. my point is you never know till you upload !
hope to see you around!

DUDE thank you, I had no idea I've been doing this for a solid year without knowing that!

Yea that bell. I got it after 4 months or so smile

Also welcome to tapastic! It's nice to meet you and when you do upload your comic put up a link here so I can take a look

you talking to me? lol just in case, I upload at least once a week and my series is over here! http://tapastic.com/episode/2934601
what about you isaccstpaul , when are you planning on releasing stuff ? and everyone else for that matter

I feel like Tapastic needs to make that more obvious. :'D It's apparently something a lot of people miss. Also, a way to be able to tell if you hit it or not... There's been several times where I've posted something on my wall and went "....Did I remember to hit the bell?" and I just have to either hope I did or risk posting it again and not annoying people with double posts.

Unless you get extremely lucky and have your comic featured by the staff in any capacity (trending, popular, etc), most of your subs will not come to you. Rather you have to come to your (potential) subs. Make an effort to find comics you like. Chat up their creators in the comments section and on the forums if they are active here. Quite a few of recently acquired subs for my comic Life of an Aspie came from me meeting and greeting newbies or simply checking out new comics with a low sub count similar to mine so I definitely feel that it helps a good deal to seek out creators closer to your skill level who may be struggling to carve out a niche for themselves. Supporting one another is what Tapastic is all about and is what I like the most about it besides being a free way to host my comic(s) and make a bit of cha ching on top of that. (ad revenue that is. also free)

i never even saw the bell! haha like I've been talking to nobody forever now! like I just thought people didn't care about what i had to say with my dumb face! lol

One thing you should do right away is put a link to your comic on your forum profile! The forum isn't directly linked to your tapastic profile, so people will actually have to search your name on google to find your comic - and people are lazy, so the best thing is to make it as easy as possible for them to find you. That way, all they have to do is click your profile picture here and they'll have a link to your comic smile
@Riko I hope you don't mind that I'm using you as an example wink

Not at all, but thanks for reminding me I need to update that! Guess I don't really qualify as a "new comic artist" anymore. Good point on bringing it up though, I always forget to tell people that.

subbed you both for being awesome! Imma start reading these things stat!

Aw dang, thank you! I hope you enjoy!

New is a relative term wink But it's still a good example of how to promote yourself in your forum profile blush

@justieno Thank you! I have a busy weekend in front of me, but I'll check out your comic when I have the time!
