an hikikomori is a term for a person, typically in Japan, who withdraws from society and isolates themselves at home for extended periods, often due to social anxiety, depression, or pressure. they may avoid school, work, and social interactions, spending most of their time alone, often engaging in solitary activities like playing video games or browsing the internet. it is said to be considered a serious mental health issue that may require therapy and support for reintegration into society.

even though this term is Japanese, this can apply worldwide, as others across the globe are this type...including myself, i suppose. i have been this way for years and i'm in my late 20s.
i go to therapy--just went today, as a matter of fact. trying to break out of this 'prison' i'm in, trying to manage without being overwhelmed too easily as always.
but haven't met anyone on the same boat though, personally...
anyways, even though i'm naturally an introvert to the core, i don't want to be a shut-in anymore

I would have been a hikikomori if I had more functional parents.

In a way, I was forced to get out there and get working and strive for something. Getting out of my parents was my prime motivator back in the day

And once I get enough money to retire comfortably, I'm gonna be hikikomori. I'm just gonna go to my shack in some rural area that's somewhat far away from civilization

I worked hard and saved up to have the opportunity to enjoy not spending my waking hours dealing with other people's bullshit.

Then greedflation and all of our democracies openly handing the public coffers over to the wealthy made my savings barely worth more than rocks and soon I'll be forced to rejoin a society that can only find joy when a CEO gets murdered because it's the only ray of hope we have that we can survive the CEOs
