so i have a story plot in mind and it s not ready yet but i was wondering how do you find an artist that wants to do your story since i found some comics that have a writer and the artist not being the same person and is it usually done like a paid commission or how does it work?

thanks in advance

You do it by actually writing a compelling story that some artist can read, enjoy and maybe agree to work on it :ok_hand:

I don't know what your budget is per page/panel, but if you do and you have a script (not a story) for your story you can find someone to work with you on commission sites like fiver or here on the forums.

If you don't or can't pay, it's best to write your story first and hope to find someone who is an artist who is just as enthusiastic about it as you are. Some people can find others to work on it just by a good premise alone, but that is highly unlikely.

oh that seems so self explanatory lmao thank you so much i guess i ll try writing a novel on tapas

Write the story, save up money, contact an artist you like (or post here on the forums, fiverr is terrible)

It always depends.

I can only say, that the artist I found for my comic, I know for a while now.

I can only tell you, look for an artist that might have the art that is fitting for your story, and ask if they do commission work. The commission 2-3 artworks, to see if they are after your liking and if they had fun drawing them. Ask if they are interested in working with you and show them a script.

About the money, we were able to agree on a fund system, where I load it up, and the artist is using it until it's empty. But be prepared to have some money left, and don´t expect people to pay you for it. And never see it as a job, just as a fun project, that might get somewhere

If the artist you're seeking out is an internet stranger, then you'll likely have to pay them. Free collaborations do happen sometimes. but they're rare and usually only on shorter works. If your story is much more than, say, 1 chapter long, you'll have a hard time finding someone to commit to it for free. edit: even then it can be dicey, but the rule of thumb is the longer the project, the more likely you'll have to pay for it.

That said, you could also consider trying to find someone you know personally to collaborate with~ It's often easier to hash out the details and work well together if you're already friends first and maybe even both interested in the story or similar things  I don't know if you know anyone like that, but it's food for thought~

if you are going to get a profession/intermedia artist expect to pay roughly $100+ per completed page. It will vary from artist to artist, but that is a good bet if you want some nice high quality work.
