How do you feel about fanart of your comic/novel?

Fan art is, quite possibly, the best thing that’s ever happened in this world. It makes my heart happy to see other people invested in a series to the point that they become inspired to create. Getting fanart was pretty much peak achievement moment for me

I’m fine with fan art. I am a bit mixed about NSFW stuff. I don’t like gore. I am fine with some sexy stuff, as long as it’s not of a child or a character that acts like a child.

I'd have objections to people sexualising my underage characters or getting way overboard with the NSFW stuff, but other than that I'm fine with all fanart.

I keep every piece of fanart I have received from friends and strangers in a folder in my comic's project folder. Everyone I've encountered has been so kind and respectful of myself and my work, and its so inspiring to see other people's hard work and interpretations. Sometimes when I need a little boost i'll poke around looking through the drawings and it always gets me back in a happy, workin' mood.

I really love it. I only have one or two but if I’m feeling a bit meh I’ll look at them and they make me happy.

It makes me want to do the same for others too. If I can find a spare second I’d like to do one of those do this in your own style things again.

So far I haven't got any fan art ( I don't count requests or commisions). In general I don't have a problem with it and would actually love it but I fear some explict drawings from my boy Xenon... It just doesn't fit his character :'D this would make me unconfortable. The other chara, Osram on the other hand... she is kinda open to everything xD

I welcome any and all fan art. The fact that someone liked my OCs enough to want to draw them is super flattering. They can be genderbent, made into robots or in crazy situations that would never be cannon in the comic. I don't care. I love it all. The fact that I created a story that was able to infect your brain to the point where you had to spend time drawing my characters means I'm doing an awesome job. I mean even if its NSFW, if I made a character so charismatic that someone wants to see them in those kind of situations then I count that as a win. Maybe that last bit is a less common opinion, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery even if it comes in forms you aren't expecting.

I agree, although I personally prefer SFW, I agree that it is a "win" in a way! xD I heard somewhere that in the music industry when Weird Al Yankovic did a parody of someone's song, that was an indication that artist made it. When someone creates fanart, NSFW or SFW, I believe it's a similar indication. It's a sign that you've made it. Not everyone prefers certain flattery, but others might and that's okay! There are people that like NSFW of their characters and some that don't. No shame in either opinion ^^

I absolutely love it The link leads to a fan art gallery I posted for the 1 year annivesary of my comic last year. Although a fair amount of it was solicited in one way or another (secret santa, raffle gift, let me draw your character thread, etc.) I treasure it all dearly

I'd love fanart of mine! I wouldn't mind nsfw either, as long as the characters aren't minors (which there aren't any in my comic, but yeah). I'd love to see how others portray my characters in both their art style and in the way they interpret them, and the fact that they care enough about my comic to draw for it sounds amazing!

I had some fanarts and even fanfics of my fandom and, gosh, that made me so happy and proud nothing else could made! This is the best and most valuable approval as the author for me.
