Hey everyone. I suck at social media and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to play the social media game. I get you're supposed to use 1-2 tags, RT things you like, follow people you like and so forth.

The problem is that I don't make pretty art, so I get pretty much no traction on any tags other than on the #surreal tag (and I don't always have art that fits that tag). Am I missing some good tags? Missing something else?

Whenever I try to tweet my comic I barely even get any impressions. I kinda get that my tags suck, but I also don't want to tag with too popular things because I doubt people looking at #watercolor or #comicart or whatever want to see a comic about complex mental health problems.

Oh and does anybody know any other websites where I could post my art. Specifically sites where people don't mind strange art?

The problem is that you're looking for an audience, not a tag or a website. There's no one stop shop where your audience is hanging out like some sort of social club. You'll need to diversify and and post your stuff all over the internet and gather your audience that way.

I don't think that you're understanding what I'm saying at all.

What you are talking about, I have already discussed in another topic with someone else, so I'm pretty sure I already know this.

I think your problem is that you think there is somekind of magical tag that will give you followers, but there isn't. First I doubt there are many people who use the tag system in twitter to see what's new. I assume most people who use tags to search on twitter only look for what's hot and what's hot is people who have a lot of followers.
That's why I stopped doing marketing. It's just seemed too time consuming to do these things, so I just follow nobody. and focus on my comic.

Yeah, you are still making art/comic/watercolor, so people still will follow you if they like your art. People everywhere don't mind strange art, no one will call on you if you post something unusual. If you don't make cute art, don't tag it #cuteart, other than that it's #comicart and million other tags. Find the proper hashtags on Insta that people use when they are talking about mental health, just start typing #mentalhealth and Insta will show you every hashtag you want (like, a thousand of them). Find @robbietrevinoart account on Insta, he uses some tags that you can find useful.
Otherwise, it's hard to market yourself on twitter (and insta too) and it doesn't even matter what kind of art you have.
