How do you pronounce your character's name?

Mortimer is probably the default spelling, Mawr-ti-mer according to Behind the Name. I spell it with a slightly stronger t because of how portuguese phoenetics work though, but that's a personal thing.

Veriesin is Ver-ay-e-seen. She's supposed to be a combination of Vera and Taliesin but I actually didn't know how the stressed vowel was spelled for the longest time(Taly-es-sin), it still works but it's not how I spell it at all since her nickname is just Veri.

All the Amberhobs are their nouns separated if applicable, so Spinel-thorn, just Fangs, etc. Audrey is also the same spelling as the normal name.

Elise is a variation of Eliza that's been part of my stories for some time so I don't remember exactly why it was changed, spelled El-iss. A very VERY silent E at the end.

That's just the main characters though. Everyone else generally is spelled the way you read them (except maybe Quasannon(Quas-annon like Rhiannon) with no big changes - on the comic. In the larger universe there's a lot of weird ones that'd take too long to talk about.

For what it's worth, I always choose names that are easy to pronounce. I choose names that are pronounced as they are written. For example, the main character in my comic is called 'Zcvytrwplmj Kglqxvz'.

the pronunciation of elisha seems to be kinda debatable? at first i heard his name in my head like ell-ee-sha but now i pronounce it like ee-lie-shuh (which i hear is the correct way?)

I think it's ee-lie-shuh for boys, ell-ee-sha for girls in my opinion.

'I' being pronounced /aɪ/ when there is no etymological reason to do so makes me cringe so bad, I would advice against using it in case of doubt. I hear so many horrible /aɪ/ on the radio where I am (/aɪ/shmael, /aɪ/taly, /aɪ/rak etc.. ARGHHH!

English is not my first language though, so I have no idea which one is the most common, or if both are accepted, for this specific name.

I have a character named Foreas that some people don't know how to pronounce, but it's pronounced like "four-E-us"

I would think that Elisah would be pronounced ee-lie-shah and Elisha pronounced other way. To me Elisha ending in an a looks like a girl name while a name ending in ah looks like a boy name, that is just how I would see that name.

i think i read that elisha is a biblical male name when i checked so it probably predates the "ending in a = girl name" thing

My main characters all have at least some Japanese in their names. ^^
Japanese "r" sounds are slightly rolled like in some dialects of Spanish, so they sound soft like "l"s.

Natalie Himura - NA-tuh-lee hee-MU-lah
Hayato Igarashi - HAH-yah-tow ee-GAH-lah-shee
Jin Umino - jeen OO-mee-noh

Japanese gets mispronounced all the time, but if you know Spanish the vowels and consonants are mostly the same, though the stress tends to go in a slightly different place.
