I have a Twitter art account but... I don't know how to use it. Every time I open it I just... stare at the blank timeline and I just don't know what to do?

So, how do you use your Twitter? Do you have some accounts to recommend? Do you have a Twitter and want to share it with me? Are there... hashtags to follow or tags that are beneficial to comic creators or illustrators in general?

Thanks for shining a light on my very apparent ignorance on this platform lmao!

i need to get to bed but REAL QUICK:

if you search "twitter" on this forum (the lil magnifying glass up in the top right) you should be able to find a few different threads of folks sharing their twitter handles if you're lookin for folks to follow! (you might also find some useful advice in a few other threads on using twitter effectively!)

My advice is always, follow folks who are doing the kind of thing you want to do -- whether their personality is really encouraging and inspiring ( I always recommend evegwood6, valeriehalla5, and if you dont mind a bunch of shirtless fellas on your TL jendrawscomics5 for their SHEER ENTHUSIASM AND EXCITEMENT ABOUT COMICS) or if they're making the kind of content you make -- and then (1) you can kind of pick up by example what sorts of tweets work and what sorts of tweets are entertaining etc, you can pick up some tweeting etiquette this way if you watch how other people use twitter, how often they bump or retweet or quote-tweet their own posts and you can see how it affects you and how many tweets feel like too many or just enough; and (2) it puts topics on your timeline. If everyone you follow is talking about when they first started drawing or how to write effective villains or how they handle conventions or whatever, and you have some thoughts on those topics that you don't mind sharing publicly, then tweeting feels more like you're adding your thoughts to an existing conversation, reacting to it (even when you're not directly replying to anyone) instead of having to come up with things to say all by yourself.

you can also just post like....sketches on twitter if you don't like coming up with things to say. Having a mostly art twitter is something some folks absolutely do!

In general I think the ancient internet adage of "Lurk Moar" is a good policy for learning any social media.

As far as hashtags go, I know #webcomicchat is still going -- if you follow the @webcomicchat4 account, there's a couple of hours on the weekend where it runs a live discussion of a comics-related topic, which can be a fun way to find other creators. I'm actually not sure about others! But this is something else that following similar creators is good for -- you can be alerted to relevant hashtags when others start tweeting about them!

anyway im shazzbaa5 on twitter so if ur lookin to follow some comic artists feel free!! or feel free to not follow me and follow other people who are closer to your jam!! and honestly feel free to ask any questions you have!!!

Hey J. Z. Castillo!

From what I've gathered, people use their Twitter in a variety of ways, so don't feel that you have to conform to any certain method of posting. Some ideas that may help is to post art, rough sketches, or a quick plug to your comic and/novel (though I wouldn't recommend plugging your comic/novel constantly as people will eventually view it like an ad and ignore it).

Personally, I like to show little snip-its of upcoming pages of my comic. If something I've been working on came out really well, I like sharing that with my followers. I've also seen some novelist post small excerpts of their works (nothing too lengthy so it's easier for people to digest quickly). Aside from that, don't be afraid to post events taking place in your life such as how your day went of if something funny happened to you!

Here's my Twitter if you're interested @thefalsevyper2

You should add yours to your post so that myself and others can follow you back!

I use my Twitter to show snippets of new art that I've made, I promote my webcomic and my Patreon page, I let fans/readers know of cons/shows that I'll be attending, and I converse with other creators about their projects & other stuff.

LOL I just did the exact same thing a few weeks ago. I started a twitter, uploaded one drawing, and pretty much blanked on what to do.

My twitter is @QueenMariposa053 I'll upload more drawings once I start getting the hang of it

I make a point of avoiding most social media, especially Twitter. I do have a Facebook account but that's only ever used for non-public stuff for friends and family.

I honestly use Twitter casually to follow a few artist and YouTube personalities and some other randos here and there. I mostly just retweet somethings here and there, I'm just starting to do a little more personal tweeting about some projects here and there but not a lot of stuff just crazed random thoughts here and there.

Mostly, I mention my tales.
I give quotes from them or write about them. I offer links when they're online.
But, I also spend a not-insignificant number of tweets commenting on or retweeting political discourse. I'm a left-leaning American, so there's all too much to be said >_>.
I also love to follow other creators, so I look for those who look for follow-backs so that we may help one another ^_^.

I use Twitter to try and gain traction on my comic. I post when I update, and other related things, but also retweet a lot of random things, like artist motivations and taking care of mental and physical health, or kittens and whatever. Once in a blue moon I also manage to post other artwork or small comic strips ^^

I know what you're talking about. Recently I try to use twitter more. I usually just post wips, doodles, and about my uploads, but most of the time I don't really know what to tweet about. When it's about social media I feel so lost! X.X Sometimes it's like shouting in the void... So I am about to at least try to use twitter. XD Anyway, here is my twitter: https://mobile.twitter.com/MSohiru

I've just gotten into Twitter myself. I use it a lot to promote my work but also to support others (especially the artists I've received work from) and to basically spread some positive vibes. It's also a great way to get to know the folks on Tapas too!

I have no idea, but feel free to follow me and I'll follow back. Usually I just post the random bs that pops into my head, along with my art. It's great! Maybe not for the rest of society, but for me personally. Heh heh.
