How long have you been working/ will work on your comic?

I plotted mine out in general arcs, having 6 arcs in total. I was hoping each arc would take me a year to produce, though that may be slightly inaccurate.

So far I've been writing mine for a year, and I have one chapter left to do for Arc 1. I recently passed 100 pages, though! So, I feel like 100 pages for 1 year is an accurate measurement. Which means likely 6-7 more years for me :s

I'm currently working on a comic, should officially launch in about a month or two, and realistically speaking, it should be running for the conceivable next ten years!

I started mine as a one page gag. It wasn't supposed to get more pages... this was 2 years ago and it turned into a longterm project with almost 100pages now... Well, back then I already knew it would at least take me 6 years to finish it.
The problem is, I have an 100% job and I can only work on the comic in my freetime. So it might take me longer. (Having the money for artsuplies but no time to use it basicly xD )

The project I'm currently working on, from February-May I got from concept to like 8 or 9 finalized pages done. Then I pretty much took the summer off. It's like 60 pages total and i can do 1-2 pages per week, so hopefully I'll be finished by like next spring with any luck will be able to start uploading by October.

I also feel overwhelmed thinking about how long I've got planned ahead, especially with my current workflow being so all over the place- seeing all the longterm estimates in this thread is actually very encouraging <3

When I think about it, I can't think of a single favourite work of literature or awesome comic series that didn't span multiple years. I guess we've just got to keep at it and hope our passion for a project can carry us through, even on days when it seems like a losing battle...

Oh I've worked on Anfänge for years now. I first worked on it around 2009, started publishing it around 2010-2011? I had to stop around 2012 because I was moving countries and going to Grad school.

I worked on it again later at the start of 2017 and only started making pages for it this year. I anticipate working on it for much much longer, especially since now it sits in a much bigger universe with more potential to expand! The goal is to talk about the universe and the people that live in it eventually, so I'm in this for the long-haul X)

I think I started my comic in June this year for the heck of it, so I wasn't really expecting anything.
Plus I can't do long term plans, I just pretty much draw whatever.

I don't really do chapters unlike most people..I just write a short sentence and upload lol

For Dating Monday it's only been a month. I had another idea I was working on for many years and then the idea for Dating Monday came up and I decided to take a break from the other idea/concept and roll with Dating Monday because I just needed to put something out there and do it you know.

It's been great! My first webcomic and I'm learning lots of things as I go along. This is good to see how long it really takes creators to work on their comics though.

I've been working on my comic for almost 3 years now. I do plan to end it by next year since it's not as long as many of my previous comics. I started it off to be a bit shorter than what it is right now, but I found that I enjoyed pacing the story better than rushing it, sort of like I did in the beginning.

I first had the idea for my comic like ... 3 years ago? I spent all that time world and character building, and now it's just finally getting ready to get to putting out the content! I'd say It'll probably take me another 2+ years before I'm fully done with this story - and I'm going to love every minute of it (even if I lose some sanity in the process)!

Oh yea, all the time! I've worked on my comic for 3 years at this point, and I am just 10 pages in to chapter 2 (Chapter 1 was 45 pages). At this rate I will be done in 5 years time or so >.<

But I just take one page at a time, I'll get done one day ^^

Not a comic, but I will probably work on my first book for the coming year and a half. Once it has hit publishing stages, it will most likely be an 8-work series, so I'm stuck with this one for the next decade

I've been working on my comic since 2011 well moreso getting an idea before actually starting it in 2017. Took a lot of self confidence and assistance with friends and professors to push myself forward.

My story is actually about 4 "volumes/books" and as for chapter count, it be around.. 100 chapters.. As of now I am close to finishing chapter 3 and start chapter 4 next Sunday. Though I have a solid plan out, I tend not to think about how long it will take me.. Granted I am now posting 4 pages a week compared to last year of doing one page a week.

At most I am doing this on my own with the storyboarding, sketching, inking and to final production along with this not being paid as this is a personal dream project of mine I want to share to everyone. Though I will say I am proud to know I have got up to 3 chapters this year, as for next year, I hope to do more.

I know for the most part, people will say that working with a team will definitely help the process go smoother like professionals who do with their work or you manage to work with a certain style that isn't so time consuming. I work with black and white because I know for a fact if I do color, I will take FOREVER with each page xox);;;

Mine is moreso a graphic novel and I can't exactly say that my story will be up to 100 or even over x amount of chapters. It really depends how I pan out the arcs.

It's kinda jumpy for me since my comic work is a collection of comics I've decided to connect together. They're all old ideas I've had before, shaping them as I go along.

Altogether, I'd say I've been working on each comic since 2008 (when I was a kiddo). However, if I were to consider this new comic work project, I'd say about 3-5 months.

Now, how long will I work on it? Hmm...I haven't thought that far. I do know my work will be a long one, but I'm not the type to try and extend it 5,10 years. We'll just have to see when we cross that bridge.

I have been working on my comic for 1 year and before that i planned it for a semester. (planning the skeleton of the story, practicing drawing pages and training my drawing speed)

If i keep the same rhythm, probably it would take 6 or 7 years more to finish my current comic. (calculating the aproximate ammount of seasons and the time i took to complete one)

I don't actually know how long I've been working on my comic, maybe like 4 years on and off? Waaay too long for less than 80 pages. It's incredibly frustrating. That aside, you aren't wrong or alone in feeling weighed down by how far you have to go. It's great that you have some kind of time frame figured out at all-- a realistic one-- at least doing that you have idea of what you can achieve in those 9 years. You're bound to see improvements over that time, too. Things may get easier and easier for you as you continue to do it.

Right now I'm so disheartened with my own comic that I'm considering abandoning it altogether and writing the story instead. It's just so hard to fork out time to make the pages. All I keep thinking is that if I don't make a change, I'll never get anywhere with it at all. It's really getting me down.

Problem is, I'm not even sure the comic even can be translated into a novel. Most of the nuances of the world/characters would be better presented visually. I find actually planning the comic effortless in that regard. So much of it is better shown. Then again, a lot of the ideas/themes are highly conceptual, so much so I wonder if the story would be better suited it prose. I'm actually writing it now rather than working on pages, just to see. Maybe it'll work, maybe not! I dunno.
