In my case, at the comic i usually have between 8 and 4 panels by episode and for the novel... It originally have between 5k and 8k words per episode, but I'll cut to 1k ~ 1.5k when i'll post here.

So i guess i think my novel's episodes are quite long for tapas users, but i think those are ok for traditional reading...

Dunno if it helps ^^'

I'm doing a traditionally drawn, traditionally formatted comic. When I first started posting, I'd put up small story arcs of 8 - 10 pages per episode... and quickly learned that this layout isn't preferred by most users. So, I do one page at a time these days, twice per week. I typically aim for at least 5 panels per page to keep the story moving.

If I could, I'd drop entire chapters at a time. I prefer telling my stories in arcs, not in bits and pieces, but hey - if it's what's preferred, I can certainly accommodate the layout!

My first chapter is 1.4k words. After that I've made sure to keep it between 600 to 1k words.

5k to 8k words are a lot!!
Wow, I have no experience in the novel aspect of story telling so sorry if this question sounds dumb but...
5k ~ 8k words cut down to 1k ~? Doesn’t that mean a lot of detail will get left out? Or does it not affect anything? How can you possibly cut down that many words??

I don't make a summary of 5k words to 1k, what i will do is to cut a 5k words chapter to 3-5 parts

Also, 5k - 8k is nothing compared with the over 140k i already wrote xD
(now i need to translate it to english though )

140k  that’s so much... Is that a normal number for novels
Man, I really should try reading some actual novels...

Well, thats normal on fantasy themed novels (that's my main genere). Most novels, though, are about 80k.

Romance, thriller... those don't need as much worldbuilding as fantasy novels, so with less pages you can explain more proper story. Or that is what i think.
Even though, in my case, i almos don't do worldbuilding so i'm rewriting all to put some more details xD (had betatester complains about that ^^')

I also must say, thats the 1st book of a serie of 3

Episode is kind of a strange word for me. My first chapter was 47 pages each page is usually between 4 and 7 panels. Next one will be shorter for sure because I've cleaned up my writing and pacing since I put that chapter together. I would like to try and keep each chapter between 20 and 30 pages at most.

One pageeee :joy: whenever I see anything one punch man related I just remember the damn op :cry_02:
Anyway, the edit was nice, thanks for the answer! I usually see a lot of update that got 1 page and it’s nice to binge lol, anyhow, still thanks for the answer!

As tapas algorythms seem to favour more frequent updates, I'm releasing all 3 of my comics 1 page per release (usually around 6 panels per page), on other sites it's also page per (weekly) release - BDSM Boys, 10 pages once a month - Vampire Prince and 15-18 +cover monthly (but on patreon only, one page release twice a week everywhere else) - Horny Hell

Initially in my comic each episode was, on average, around 4-5 panels, I was doing it in vertical format so each update was a whole scene/gag with variable length. Now I'm structuring it in pages and update one page or two at a time (with 3 to 6 panels per page).
Then I'm also organizing it in chapters, so each chapter is about 8 pages. Ideally I would like longer chapters, around 16 pages, but I can't draw that fast and don't want to spend several months in a single chapter.

I do about 4-6 panels a page. and only one page a week
its not much but its what i can do

Exactly 13 pages  Every single chapter  Playing with numbers is fun and could be Easter eggs sometimes

As per page, well depends usually 6 panels or so, sometimes more sometimes less

As a chapter (one story within an arc) it goes from 32 to 42 pages.
As an upload to tapas, it was 32 but changed it to 20 or so (so two uploads would complete a full chapter).
