How often do you comment?

So how often do you comment on the series you read?

I'll admit I don't do it very often, mostly because I usually can't find anything to say. Like I'll enjoy the page(s) and all, but I'm not big into predicting what will happen next or analyzing what's going on. I like to take things as they come and wait for a section or arc of the story to close before thinking about the characters.

Most of the time my comments go towards the art because I think all artists appreciate that. ^^

However if the series is just starting out and has only a few subs, I'll try my best to leave a comment, because I know it can be encouraging for the creator.
On the flip side, if the series has a ton of subs and comments I'll just like and leave since I don't want to scroll through all the comments to see if what I want to say has already been said.

comments make me smile, it makes it worth all the hassle, especially right now when I'm working through pages I have done before. I try to comment but like you sometimes I am a bit lost for words ( yes I can do that from time to time) for small and new artists a comment can be pure gold.

I don't comment often. I usually read comics in big chunks, and when I get to the end of the chunk sometimes I'll leave a comment that's just generally about how much I like the art or that I can't wait to see where the story is going.

That's true! Especially if you're making a joke or snarky comment you'd know if the creator will take it the right way.

There are comics where the authors can count on me to comment on every single update (unless I'm really that busy and even then I'll try my best). They're often the ones where I feel a certain attachment and where at least a little part of me would die if the comic stopped updating, for example if the author is friends with me, someone I look up to or if they really, really drew me in with their characters and story. Many times those criteria overlap.

And then there are comics where I comment every now and then, almost never or haven't even left a single comment yet. That doesn't mean I don't like them (I wouldn't subscribe to something I don't enjoy!), it just means that maybe I haven't gotten super attached to it yet or that I'm still trying to figure out if the author updates regularly or if it's going to be another one of those webcomics that stop updating after two pages, or... Basically, attachment and trust are important for me so that I can comfortably comment on people's work regularly.

Overall, though, I try to leave as many comments as I can with whatever free time I have left because I know just how much getting a comment means to me, too! A while back I always considered it really hard to find something to say, but practice makes perfect. Even if it's "only" pointing out a particular expression I like or some line I thought was super witty--there's always something to say, and even if it's been said before, I don't think authors ever get tired of compliments.

i rarely comment on other series - but love the ones i get on MY series (except the people who use R-rated profanity cause it is a PG comic). i should probably comment more. I never know what to say besides variations on "good job"

I don't comment much. like you I enjoy the updates but doesn't have much meaningful to add to it ...
I can't just comment "LOL" which seems rude.

I appreciate the comments. I recently had one, where a reader pieced together the name of a character... a big deal sense the writer (the hubby) and I have had debates about using first and last names interchangeably for characters.

Having that one comment pushed away any doubts.

I'm terribly guilty of not commenting or even liking a comic. I think it might have to do with the fact that I write reviews and so if I'm going to say something, it's going to be long-winded .

I should probably click that like button a bit more, though. I'm working on it...

But of the few times when I have commented, it is usually commenting on the art or some sort of layout decision that I was really impressed by.

more or less how i go about it too.

sometimes i take the effort to pause for a minute to make sure there isn't anything dumb i could say but other times i just don't care enough. it's always smth dumb too. but extracting all thoughts that occur while reading a page is complicated and aaa

I think I comment quite a lot, but it depends on authors' response. I usually don't comment on series where authors don't reply to comments at all, and keep commenting series where there's some author-reader interaction.
There are some comics that I comment on every single update (or at least I try to), and those are comics of authors I consider friends. I also usually comment while catching up when I find a new serie.
Other than that, I comment only when I have something to say CX

I almost always try to leave a comment on episodes I enjoyed and I have a tendency to hit "like" a lot too. Doesn't matter much to me if someone has already said something similar or whatnot because I know it means a lot to the creator. As a creator, I love reading comments and try to reply back to every single one because the readers appreciate the interaction too. :]

I find it hard in general for people to think of what to say, thus no comment at all. I've noticed that page descriptions with "Do you think blah blah blah" or "Leave a comment on what you think of X and Y doing this thing" or "Do you have any advice on this part" are more quick to get comments, and pages where something funny or unexpected happens also get more comments, while pages where nothing interesting happens tend to get little to no comments. This is why I prefer shorter episodes with 1-2 pages. I was actually thinking of starting a thread where people can list what sort of things to comment about below a page. Things like "How did you come up with that?" or something constructive like "The way you've paced this is spot-on." or something so that quieter commenters can leave upvotes and such. I also like it when content creators give to their subscribers, like those thank-you pictures on your profile n stuff. I find sincere comments more valuable than likes and subscriber counts, but this is an opinion that stems from me floating around Deviantart for years where favorites are passed around like candy.

I'm totally guilty of not leaving out comments because I totally have no idea what to say. I can point out some stuffs but I don't want to get entangled into an argument. Though I like it when someone comments my webcomic cus it rarely happens. *sob.

as much as soon depends if im online. THEY ARE "VERY IMPORTANT" to me
