I did the math, and this entire story collectively would be 180 pages had it been a novel and would be one scene per page on average.
Chapter one is summed up as:
Character explains world, and has a dynamic with protagonist,
protagonist fights a monster with his sister,
protagonist gets into an argument with his sister,
First character shows up and does a thing,
Protagonist angsts about his problems and gets a phone call.
And that's chapter one.
The thing is, I want to set up an episodic structure, and establish a 4-character team with their whole dynamics and arcs.
Season one is 11 chapters at the moment. I planned for 3 seasons.
What I have so far is already way too long but nowhere close to finished, and I'm going to have to cut most of this writing, entire chapters upon chapters worth, while also adding a ridiculous amount of extra stuff to the plot, like entire character arcs and character dynamics, and even the core narrative of it all.
So, how do I fix this issue?
