This thread asks the genuine question of who on Tapas is on Globalcomix. I'm active on here and on there quite a bit so I was wondering if anymore people I know on here are hooked up. I'm saying this because the recommended reading list is coming back and will be at the end of Thirley Peak and Hawk and Flo Adventures going forward. For reference here is the upcoming list.

If you're on there how do you feel about the site so far, if you're not on it are you considering joining? ^^

I am on GlobalComix! Some thoughts:

Pros:

SUPER friendly staff, very creator-focused. They're always listening to feedback, and they're super proactive in helping their creators figure out how to advertise their comics.
Has some cool features on the reader end, like zooming in/highlighting the panel you're currently reading. Great for mobile! Speaking of which, they just released their mobile app!
Apparently you can sell PDFs of your comic?

Cons:

Comics are expected to be in chapter format, which is a bit awkward when you do page-a-week like I do. There's solutions for it—you can merge updates once your whole chapter is finished—but I'm not too fond of it.
Readership is not great. I consistently get 0 views over there, and it looks like most comics don't even break 1k.

In short, it's still pretty new so it's a bit rough around the edges, but it's looking pretty promising. If they work out some of the kinks, I think it could be a really great platform.

From the looks of it and from what people have said their heart's in the right place and I want them to have success, it's just going to be difficult finding readers rather than publishers (like many other reading platforms before them). I don't think it's worth me crossposting there too, especially as I'm also page-per-week format.

I just recently started posted on Globalcomix. So far basically no one reads it, I guess I need to go all in on self promotion every time I go to a new site and start over from scratch.

Being able to sell pdfs of the comics is interesting, but they don't allow it for vertical scroll comics, I would have to do some serious editing to get it into a traditional page format. But also its irrelevant because no one is interested in reading my comic let alone paying for a pdf of it.

I have ups and downs, when Hawk and Flo Adventures hit the Popular charts I got quite a few views but lately i've been getting very few. The App has recently dropped so I think the readership issues will improve in the near future. Thirley Peak's chapters after chapter 1 have 0 views though lol

ATM lot's of people are looking for alternatives to Webtoons, ever since ad revenue went down people have been losing their patience with it. I've noticed every site has been doing better lately, Duck, Comic Fury, Tapas and Global have all been growing. Comic Fury I got over 200 visitors in a day recently it was wild.

I actually advertise every site i'm on after most chapters of Hawk and Flo Adventures and Thirley Peak. I put this at the end of my chapters on Tapas and Global.

On the Duck I have site buttons which link to other places. The site button feature is lit on the Duck

I was able to figure out recently that If I copy and paste my files onto one longer document Vert scrollers work on the Duck. admittedly @sefra114 was the one to discover that before me, atm i've decided I want to spread the word lol

When I talk about getting readers I mean readers who are not also comic creators. Getting comic creators will be relatively easy because like you said they're looking for better fairer platforms.

However for a platform like that to thrive you need to have a majority of non-creator consumers, a lot of them do not care about ad rates, or working conditions, they just want to read, so you have to make the platform a good experience for them as well and get them on board. That's one of the reasons why some of the most popular platforms have the worst treatment of their creators: the readers are the priority, so the model works. Having 200 visitors is not great if most of those visitors are just hopping on to update their comics/check their numbers and not browse the site.

Readers are jumping ship from WT now because the amount of coins it costs to read more of comics rose by a lot. Reddit is full of threads being negative about it nowadays it's part of why i've not been as active in those sub reddits. All anybody does there is talk about how WT is dying.

Comic Fury is a weird site, most of the people on there don't have accounts and just read, so even though I only have 27 subs I've been getting over 100 visitors a day on average since then, maybe it's just a high activity period? you make a point though a lot of the time I'm talking mostly with other creators. I read a lot of stuff when I'm not making my own comics so I go and leave as many comments as I can.

probably sexual content - globalcomix allows as much as tapas used to in past on browser version without hiding your series

on globalcomix blurring out/putting mosaic on genitalia is enough, here this will get you off the app and your series not appearing in popular, newest, etc since that is apparently synched up with app since some time ago
to have any visibility you have to cut out parts of panels with genitals or cover them and if there's even a suggestion of oral sexual acts, then characters head also needs to be removed

I'm on there now, Tapas has been making some weird business decisions so I thought that putting my comic on a bunch of different platforms would be good. it seems fine enough but I haven't been putting tons of effort in.
