I've used MS paint since before it was even called MS Paint (It used to be called PC Paintbrush and was included with a mouse driver floppy). I used it on DOS, Windows 286, Windows 3.1, 95, 98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10, and 11. It has definitely improved over time (now it allows transparencies and can use layers!) and it is far and away the simplest art program out there. I've created some pretty nice art using it (though I say it myself). I still use it for some things today due to its simplicity.
That being said, you are severely restricting yourself with what you can do thanks to its lack of tools such as brushes. When I started drawing again I wanted to go beyond Paint, so I searched and found Krita. It is free, and it is excellent, though it has a learning curve and is also somewhat limited compared to the paid programs such as Clip Studio (CSP). I actually tried CSP, even subscribed for six months, but I found it WAY too complicated and so returned to Krita.
