(something weird with the reply it replied to someone instead of the topic, I'm sorry)
Just a couple of days ago I was 4-am texting a friend of mine with anxiety saying I didn't like the first chapter of Cosmic Fish because it felt like a tv show pilot (not that it's a bad thing but it needed a very basic introduction as things would get confusing later on without it) but it felt like it harmed my story.
I'm only sharing this because of what she told me: "everyone hates their first chapter. The important thing is that RIGHT NOW you're looking back at it and seeing issues or things you wish were different. That means you've grown, and it should motivate you to make everything afterwards even better."
And that is very true.
Hell she even pointed out to take up the first chapter of all my favorite comics and see how much they've improved, and even Neil Gaiman has thanked people for going past the first few chapters of Sandman. That's completely natural and when I saw this topic, my first reply would have been the first chapter, but with this new info, I think I'm happy it went the way it did. It has all the info and even teases which will be important later on. Pretty much how TV Pilots or first episodes work, so yay.
Now if I WOULD fix something it'd probably be some names, but i've gotten too attached to them, I can't see them as anything else.
Maybe some design choices here and there but mostly minimal.
