hi guys!

i've been thinking back and forth about doing a mini series about living with chronic migraine. i've been doodling and writing about it for years, and there's some things that happen with headaches sometimes where i'm just like "i WISH i was making this up," because of how ridiculous it gets. :fearful: i've talked to some of my friends about it and they've said i should just go for it. this entire first week at school alone has inspired many comic strips.

my idea is that my persona would be the MC and that the "migraine" is also a person who just casually shows up at the most annoying of times (trying to do homework, waiting for the bus, grocery shopping etc). They basically show up and try to annoy the MC. I dunno, i may also do it without that character at all? and I also want some strips to be informative.

this whole idea is really messy right now, so your feedback is welcome!

I think it's a great idea!
I know people have done such a thing before with anxiety, depression, etc. so it would be nice to see one about migraines.
I can sympathize since my husbands gets headaches often and migraines on occasion.

Well migraines shouldn't just annoy since they are also painful. If you're gonna write about it, don't write it as something harmless or just obnoxious.

For sure -- there will be strips that are a lot more serious. There have been days where I can't even open the blinds or even turn my head without feeling nauseous. I wanna try to cover a broad range of experiences with it.

It's definitely an idea I haven't seen before, but that doesn't mean it would be bad.

A lot of people have to deal with migraines so I expect a lot of people might find a comic like that relatable.

Personally, I would read this for sure. I think there's quite a lot people who would love to see a comic talking about chronic migraines- as grim as that sounds. The idea of the migraine being represented by a separate person does make me wonder though- I feel like that might set you up for some issues about how the person is represented, as opposed to something like a migraine demon or spirit.

end of the day this could be a comic that could be educational and helpful to other people who suffer. i would include some of the things you do to get rid of the head aches and some of the other things that people suggest work. of course your never really rid of a head ache they really are the villein that never sods off. maybe you could include his pal insomnia

This sounds like a great idea! My brother has awful migraines. Many people can relate. I follow a comic that is about depression, and it is personified as an "annoying roommate" Triple trouble1. I'm not mentioning the comic to tell you that concept is already taken or anything like that!!! Just mentioned it as a reference to say that personified illness are good ideas for a comic.

I think it could work as a very interesting idea especially with the visual use of metaphors.

It doesn't matter what the premise is, what really matters is how it's executed.

As someone that lived with chronic migraines for years - yes. Please, I've seen so many comics are depression and anxiety/mental illness but not about this. It's such a interesting idea - what it's like to constantly be dealing with that, how disruptive and painful it is. If talked about and executed right - it could me awesome and even educational. Please let me know if you ever move forward with it.

I think you should go for it! I think a lot of readers will relate, and you have the option to not only create funny content but also informative!

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

I did some thinking and I'm probably gonna do this. It doesn't seem like a topic that has been covered very much in webcomics, so I've got a lot of research to do and will combine it with my own experiences. Some strips will be serious, while others will be lighthearted and positive. I haven't got much drawn out yet aside from a style test for the comic. Here's how the MC will look. :')

I really appreciate your thoughts on this topic and will hopefully have it going by 2019.
