Is your comic a reflection of you?

Looking back at the plans I've made for my entire manga, shade, I feel that it sort of is, but in a way that isn't too obvious.
It reflects me in a way that it kind of hurts, I sometimes despise my work and want to brutally kill off the entire main cast. I keep going with it though, because I have big hopes for it.

I'm gonna say yes because Sheepskin is a slice of life comic that is heavily inspired by events that take place within my family. Even the chihuahua family is based on my family in that my dad tends to nickname our dogs after mexican food.

Well first of all Self Defeat is loosely based on me and my friends and myself so yeah there is going to be some reflection of myself in the comic. The main character is supposed to be a parody of all the thing I dislike about my personality and in making fun of him and putting him in awkward situations I'm sorta able to work through my shit IRL. There is something cathartic about putting comic Hop into horrible situations.

Yes, in a way. Malleus Maleficarum is admittedly quite closely linked to personal experiences. Not as a whole story, or not specifically with the main characters, but more on the themes and some of the events. I've put in a bit of personal values and thoughts, though they're somewhat metaphorical. They're pretty straightforward as a story however. So I hope readers can understand and relate to them if at all.

I never intended for the story to be so personal. When I first wrote Malleus Maleficarum, it was pretty much just telling a basic story from start to finish. But as I rewrote and refined it during some years of hardship, it's evolved into the lil monster it is today. It's pretty ball busting to write actually hah!

My comic Friendly Neighbours shows comics what happend to me in real lately or is about to happen. My embarrassing situations and other things in reality are my inspiration that might to be easily recognized by other people.

I think Reus is a reflection of my personality and humor, but it's not about me or my experiences. Or if it is, I just haven't realized it yet haha. ha. But I have spent a good amount of my adult life thinking about and planning this story, so if it weren't a reflection of me in some way I think that would be strange. As creators, the things we make are inherently a part of us.

My comic strips are definitely very "direct" projections of my views and immediate moods. Our "proper" comic had to expand beyond just simple reactionary images to include more characters and world-building and ideas, of course, but a lot of my old strips served as a basis for it.

Yes and no? The umbrella plot deals with things close to my heart but I don't draw a sad page because I feel sad. The story is laid out and life won't change it. Although the subject matter and the messages surfacing have made me stop and look at myself a few times.

My current mood might affect how long it would take to complete a page, but it doesn't affect the story overall since everything's been scripted before hand. However much of what I draw reflects my values and contains some social commentary.

Idk my main comic Simon Nero has some aspects I take out of life but mostly I try to tell the story from the characters perspective. For example Simon is someone I would want to be a strong capable leader.

My comics are stories I want to tell the characters are more a reflection of me. Each character has a piece of me to their personality.

Well, more or less it's true. My first comic Dreamcatchers has similarities with my past. (I wasn't so popular, I just wanted to be friend with popular girls in my school, and be like them...etc.) I guess those years made me wanna draw it. I'm planning an other manga/novel called The Daughter of Time. It's idea came when I felt so down... It was after highschool ended, and I didn't want to be separated from my friends from highschool. TDOT's story is very different from my other story ideas, because it hasn't got so much comedy scene, and I think it won't get a happy ending. So yes, I would say my comics has similarities with my mood, but I think it's normal. People can survive hard times by their or others art. When I felt sad or lonely I just read a good book or a comic. I wanted to give something like that for others and myself so... that's why I started to draw comics.

My comic, Arc29, is a sci-fi story set on a spaceship with a cast of basically two(for now). Now, this reflects in no way my life but the comic is directly inspired by specific incidents that have been twisted around and passed through a filter of metaphors and symbols. It couldn't be further from auto-bio but at the same time, I get to deal with issues in my own life through my stories and characters. Sometimes they even utter sentences that I've said in real life.

To a small extention, yes I based to the two main characters of my series after myself Beneeka and Summer. Benz being the more funny,goofy light hearted side and Summer being the more serious everything is annoying to me side but in the end of it all there both very sweet...in there own way lol

Hmmm I would say yes and no.
My mood only affects in the comic for the process when I'm finishing a page in colouring and shades, one day I'm in agood mood and I make 3 pages, and in others I finish barely 1, only in that.
I do use some experiences for certain situations in characters, emotionally and mentally, because since it's a fantasy comic, the rest comes from my imagination xD

My cartoon strip started out as a sort of therapy. I wasn't in a happy place mentally when I first started it and it was an exercise in thinking 'happy thoughts'. Things have changed since and the happy thoughts come a lot more freely but some of the sarcastic digs in the humour are probably my subconscious way of getting even with whomever wronged me on a particular day.
