My favourite isn't the main character of my story, rather one of the side characters, Eryn Myrr.
He's born in a sort of agricultural planet in the series used by the humans. Planet Sorana.
It wasn't only an agricultural planet but a sort of "haven" for the rich and powerful to unwind themselves behind closed doors.
His mother was a worker in the red-light district of Sorana. He basically grew up with an abusive mother that never loved him and considered him a waste of space. Coupled with the things he had to do himself, whether illegal smuggling or much more, it was all for the sake of survival. The only "good" thing about him was his face. Therefore, down the line he started using it to gain better treatment from others, even the clients from the district who had an interest in his charisma would hire him from time to time. However, the Seraphane (The "Antagonists") of the series attacked Sorana to claim it from themselves. In the process he lost a lot, even his elder brother. The only person he ever cared about. He survived though, and what he went through changed him, for better or for worse.
