Is your main character female or male?

And please write what genre the story is and maybe if there are more female characters than male characters in your story. In most comic books that I have the female characters are beautiful side characters, but I have the feeling that it changed a little bit in the last years and it´s maybe different in webcomics

It depends on the story. Most of my novels have either female lead or dual lead, but the one I am posting right now is BL, so it has a male lead. The cast has three plot important females, two in the present day timeline, one in the ancient storyline.

One of my novels is female majority cast with the five male cast members all relegated to the roles of the MC’s husbands to beautify the story and be love interests. It’s a full no-nonsense role reversal, matriarchy society with male love interests specifically cast in common archetypes of female characters.

Perhaps "Identifying as male," main character is supposed to be a teenaged boy.
I write low-fantasy supernatural genre with mystery and drama, which I think have shit load of male main characters (especially fantasy in general).

I have unpublished project with male main character but more dominant ratio of female characters compared to one above. Another aborted project has a super bitter female main character, and more female-oriented casts because it is set within sisters.

I have 4 main characters: 3 males and 1 female. It's fantasy/superhero, slice of life, comedy, lgbt+.

Male. all day every day lol haven't had a female character since 2012. lol And it all started with wanting to learn how to draw guys better since I was already good with women.

I put down 'male' for one character, but I have two protagonists and the other one is intersex, feminine leaning non-binary gender wise. So technically they're not fully one or the other. Thinking about it I think I have more chicks throughout the story than dudes, at least as the story progresses the side characters will start changing from being male dominant to being female dominant.

The genre of my comic is Slice-of-Life/Psychological Drama, with a little bit of horror depending on who's reading.

Out of 7 different comics we have, there are 5 male MCs (horror/adventure/sci-fi stories) and 2 female MCs (sci-fi thriller stories). They are usually (but not always) supported by deuteragonists of the opposite sex.
In Hexameron we have 5 guys and 4 girls as a whole cast of main, secondary, tertiary characters.

My MC Hinan (Red) is female. But as I'm writing this I realized that her S.O. (Blue) gets more screen time than her.

Genre: Action/Fantasy

Cast Ratio: 32 Females and 31 Males

thanks for the interesting answers so far.
i´m trying to put around 50% female and 50% male characters in my stories.
in the 80s there was a maximum of 2 female characters in most stories and often
none or one and she was female and beautiful and had no further character traits

My MC Genii is a teen male (Siren). High fantasy adventure with a bit of horror, mystery and romance thrown in. Female supporting cast are all strong - probably stronger than he is actually.

Female \o/ It's a Crime noir/ Drama and she's a bit a tomboy, but i tried to not totally take her feminity away.

For the rest i think i'm pretty much at 50% 50% even if we see the guys more often. After all it unfolds during the 20S in the criminal scene.

I have a slice of live comic with three guys and four girls as the lead characters. I switch them out every so often since I do four panel comic strips.

Slice of life. I just called the characters he/him out of nowhere and it just stuck. Probably wasn't a good idea since it's kinda supporting the male default but its too late to change now I suppose

For my next project, I plan for the mc to be male, but his best friend is female and I want the cast to have a 50/50 split. It's also more of an action comic (I'm linking the Discord server cuz that has more info about it)

Male. It's an Action Sci-Fantasy. I do have a secondary main who is female.
