Day 11 of the Comics Challenge! Today's inspiration is not a quote, but an amazing background artist: Lorenzo Lanfranconi. I did a study of one of his paintings a couple months ago. By replicating it, I kinda figured out some of his techniques. And I made some brushes to replicate the effects he does.
So after studying Lorenzo and doing the background study I did yesterday...now I am making an original background of my own. Here's what I have so far:
Summary
Notes for myself on some things I'm learning about backgrounds:
- always do an underdrawing, it helps a lot
- use lots of layers to keep the sections from blending together
- try to have some concentrated areas of detail, but also some plain areas for the eye to rest
- put extra detail/effort into the foreground, as that's the biggest part people will see
