Kind of coming back from a massive hiatus...what's the status of Tapas?

I did make a small try into the webcomic thing, and am gonna start again. A bit later on. Just wanna ask what you guys think is what the most popular genres are and more importantly what kind of genre do you want to see more on the site. As a reader of the site.

I don't know how long you were gone but BL is incredibly popular here now. Romance, fantasy, and comedy are still going strong. I'd personally like to see some of the other genre's shine that aren't as popular like Sci Fi or Mystery.

Yes mainly romance if it's continuous I guess. Like someone else said Slice of Life as well. Btw I'd love to see Scifi and mystery become more popular as well. Do you happen to know any good ones here?

We're in the sci-fi camp. We picked the wrong genre to start with haha! It has been hard to get a foot hold at the moment on both Tapas and Webtoons as we're not a popular genre. That and on the discover page (desktop) for webtoons sci-fi is lumped in with other and guess what other genre is there? Romance! Just can't compete with that juggernaut!

im always looking for character driven fantasies with high stakes (i just fell in love with quick$ilver so i guess stories similar to that?) but tapas seems to prefer romance and slice of life

Why not sci-fi mystery BL? Two rookie detectives fall in love while investigating a murder on a space station.

I'm doing a mystery/crime one that mixed with fantasy It's true that I haven't seen a lot of mystery comics here!

I’ve been working in horror lately, it’s small enough that a new series like mine can stand out but popular enough that you can get some decent traffic. The biggest downside right now is that I have to compete with like... 3(?) Premium comics. Which have a pretty big advantage when it comes to the popular/trending tabs, even beyond the additional marketing they get. But from what I know that’s pretty low compared to what the other genres have to deal with.

slice of life, romance and joke of the day I think are the most popular, I would like to see more action oriented, and less dramatic stories, getting real tiered of cliche drama on all sides -_-

Let's not forget romance is often a genre paired with other genres so that is another reason it's everywhere. Same goes for comedy. A lot of people just like love and fun jokes.

I mean when I have new story ideas it usually starts with a story concept. Then I realize "Hey these two characters would be pretty cute together". And oops suddenly it's horror time travel with some comedy and romance mixed in. That's pretty much exactly what happened with Crimson Tracks.

I wish that we were allowed to pick more than 1 genre for the comics we make. The comic im currently working on I put it under scifi because thats a huge part of the setting, but theres also romantic/drama elements in it too. I'm tempted to switch genre labels just to improve the rate of views.
