Lack of AI Presence on Tapas?

Tapas and most users here are against AI art. So much that even when I post ai art of my OCs (I blatantly say its AI) in this forum I get told off.

AI is of the devil in this site. So that's why...

The first page is for premium comics and those usually have covers commissioned by Tapas or made by the creator. The community page has the indie stuff, so you're likely to find a handful of AI covers there, but not as many as in other sites. Tapas does their best to keep AI out of the site and users can report content they suspect was made with AI. Having a rule against the use of AI generated content does a lot to keep it off the site.

Avoiding the whys, but any space traditionally founded by people driven by self improvement were never welcoming to people claiming to have made something they didn't. Tracers and blatant thieves (people taking an image off google and posting it under their name) were always outed and chased off. AI is just a modern evolution of those two as far as artists are concerned. It would be better to find communities welcoming of it than to demand acceptance in places that never entertained it to begin with.

That explains it. I was a bit stunned thinking the site seemed entirely pristine. Even the few sites that decided against allowing AI had no reasonable means to detect it on submission, so many still flew under the radar.

AI is considered illegal. Some people will use if for PFPs, but for books, ones with AI are immediately called out and reported. Tapas has a very low tolerance of AI

I had tapas almost shut me down cause people reported my art as AI I don't normally record everything I do but to protect myself now, Also I changed my art style more as well so it looks less AI/Realism which is what I am good at. I have to! It is so silly You can tell the difference but whatever. I hate AI also but what is the difference in using models in some cases or premade brushes and such. The difference is 1 is 8 hours the other is 22 hours

Will you continue catering random people from internet and change your style every time? Will you do it again when they'll try reporting your new style?
I'm sorry, but this is just disheartening seeing fellow artists jumping through hoops over AI madness.

well that makes me sad to see. We shouldn't really have to adjust to look like we didn't use AI.

It's like that whole ordeal of if you see "--" in a text, it's automatically assumed to be AI generated. No-- people have used that before they probably even knew what it's called, and I'm going to continue using it.

Comic in general have definitely not avoided the ai plague.

I know webtoons has a lot of comics that are ai or don't follow their censorship guidelines. They can even get mass reported and they'll still be up.
But webtoons has a lot of issues only getting worse with each passing year.

I think with tapas it's either a difference in audience, or they have a better algorithm/ moderators, that actually take action and ensure ai stays off the website.

Hmm, currently AI are too dumb to make comics, mostly because AI art lacks consistency from one drawing to the other, but that might change in the future, expect to see a tapasai in the next two years, sketchy/lame art is the future, so, I'm getting good at that type of art, it'll re-conquer the world after former art big names like artgerm have been made extinct by AI.

Speaking of webtoons,they suck, they deleted my comic because of a word, yet they have tons of scammy comics hosted on them such as sex advertisements and such, screw them... I never liked the webtoon format anyway... too damnn loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng

I know It is more time consuming as well so I don't mind doing both like when you have the close up pieces that is a bit extra as a treat to the reader once I get the manga going. it take 8 hours just for the piece with 3 people.

Yeah man, because we’re all artists. You show up to the baking conference with your slice stealing machine people won’t like it even if you’re honest about where your cake came from. Know your audience, and maybe look into how ai generation works.

Btw, II see many people beeing fooled with AI art in these forums, I recommend this site to check if an image is AI or not, it's way more acurate than the browser extensions.

AI would definitely have issues with staying consistent Art wise, but people could still make comics that are written by AI, and just do the art for it themselves. Not something that makes a lot of sense to me, I can't imagine putting the time and work into creating a comic, just to skip out on actually creating the story. But I have noticed there's been an increase of corporate companies (even these corporate companies are small, so I'm not sure I'm using the right world- feel free to correct me if I am missing the word) coming over and publishing tons of comics all at once, and I could definitely see them maybe using them in the future? They feel kinda like they care more about making money rather than sharing their story- which is crazy considering I don't know any comic artists here on Tapas that makes enough to live let alone enough to get companies interested in putting their trust in it.

I also wanted to mention- I'm sorry your comic got removed, though I will say if you used like- a slur- that it'd make sense if they removed it. I feel like most people who like and work in webcomics aren't into hate speech. I do agree that Webtoon is a bit worse than Tapas though, I was planning on releasing my comic on there and here- but then I heard about them introducing new AI tools for paid creators and that changed my mind.
