Long novel chapters (Longer than you know.)

Does anyone else have the issue where they reach the novel limit of 15,000 characters (mostly by deleting writing), and you feel super accomplished that you did it and you post your work, only to read it over and see typos. So when you go to correct those typos, all the sudden your character limit is like... 60 characters over and you can't even edit one character without editing 60 of them??
I'm not sure if the count notices punctuation after publishing or what, but it's pretty tedious not begin able to edit typos without having to split your chapter into two to solve the problem.

I usually write in Scrivener and then paste it into Tapas, so I don't run into this problem.

If you don't have something like Scrivener, you could use google docs or any other word processor to draft in, then move it over to Tapas when you're done. The only problem is if you use italics or bold because it doesn't copy over. There is a workaround for that, but it's a little clunky...

I've had this problem but my writing gradually transitioned to shorter chapters over time to compensate... well I say 'shorter chapters' but really I just put in more natural break to end chapters quickly if I needed to.

I hit that one time. Yes, it was a pain. I now limit myself to 14,750 characters to give myself some breathing room bc I tinker with my already-written chapters too. (I love Scrivener!)

Not really, I don't have great access to internet connections, so I do all my writing offline and then copy-paste them in when I do get a few minutes online. I paste no less than page of text at a time. The issue I've found with my own method is keeping the different versions coordinated. If I update a reference online to change a date perhaps, I have to remember to make the exact same change later when I'm in front of my computer so else I'll be working from an out-of-date manuscript.

That’s the weird part, I did copy and paste but made a couple of edits and hit 15,000. Then when I re-read after publishing it was saying I was at like 15,060 or something. So even trying to edit on letter will prompt me to need to edit 60 characters. I just need to find a better method it seems lol

I bypassed this before. Just copy paste it using the HTML method but don't edit it in tapas. The highest I went was 17k+/15k 🤣
