I don't know if it's wrong to reccomend comics that aren't on Taptastic but...

Some of my favourites are Leppu's "Tiger Tiger", which has some higher stakes but is largely about relationships!

I guess I might also reccomend my own comic on Tapas, it's a slice of life comic with elements of the supernatural, which are (so far) pretty subtle!
In The Woods Somewhere2

This is my current project, a Fantasy/Mystery/Comedy webcomic.
There are some intense scenes, but the plot itself is pretty wholesome.

i LOVE slice of life fantasy

Does supernatural counts?

Well mine's more a PG-13 cartoony feel about some kid investigating a strange mystery regarding odd static on tv. Yup pretty low key for now with a few monster fight scenes

Reading these at the moment, definitely recommend them both! This first one is about a crowned prince who escapes for a night and something terrible may or may not have happened, causing panic! That was a terrible description, the comic is super cute so far and keeps me wondering.

This second one is rather new, so I don't know how "big plot" it is, but it has a great cast of characters so far, beautiful art, and I can tell the story is going to be top tier.

If you can handle the BL part, technically a vampire fantasy slice of life. My future stories go more fantasy

This is up to you, but my debut series is an Anthology of Short stories! Now it's in the prologue arc, but next month there will be a Valentine themed arc (And two months later it will be an easter one, then the Halloween one and in the end christmass).

Feel free to check out

Enjoy your stay, have a nice day!

This one starts out making you THINK the stakes are really high, but actually the story is a lot more contained when you get into it. I think it fits pretty well.

Mine is a webcomic of small stand-alone comics highlighting the characters and lore from my novel, maybe that could be something for you? :green_heart:

It's definitely not short, and there is a larger overall mission but there is definitely no prophecy or chosen-one. There is a reason the main character is the one involved, but it's not because of some larger destiny thing.

Aaaah... thank you for the recommendation, but I should probably say as the creator of Errant, trying my best to avoid to avoid spoilers, that my comic is about big stakes but explored through small relationships. Similar to Dragon Age 2 or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the stakes are actually big and have national or even global implications, but most of the story is based around a single region and one small group of people.

So really... I'm on the fence about whether I'd say it's the kind of thing OP is after. There are no ancient prophesies or chosen ones, but it's definitely not going to be short or low-stakes.

If your still looking then I have my own comic that you could check out. It's still focusing and will continue to focus on the two main characters eventually meeting. Then it will simply change to their personal endeavors and changes, I hope this is right up your alley. Enjoy!

I have a chill comic which re-tells various myths n legends. Each ep being like a lil bedtime story.

I think you'll like mine! It's fairly small within the bigger picture of the Universe and the protagonist is pretty unimportant as a mythical figure or something like that. It's also scifi!

If you like crime drama, here's a fantasy murder mystery with elves! There's a dragon ^^ I'm releasing the first full issue on my Gumroad soon, but the first pages are here on Tapas so people can check it out and see if they like it ^^

Ah yeah, I saw all of your likes on the pages the other day  Thanks, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Oh man, I know plenty, I love those!

I'm surprised no one mentioned Ultramarine Weather, it's a very fluffy fantasy drama:

Actually I think many stories with a "magical boy" with fit this as they tend to be romance rather than action.
One example is this is mine  It's pretty slice-of-lifey with bits of psychological drama. There's a major plot with a villain and stuff and it's still pretty local and the character barely leave the school.

There's also Magical Boy Basil, Witch of Luminoza and Magical Boy Troubles. All of them share similar tropes. I don't know if their stories will scale for something bigger, but so far they're been pretty much slice of life drama too.

The last ones may not have actual magic but they are drama featuring mythological creatures.

I understand what you are searching for.
A lot of times stories tend to follow an overall arc, which isn´t a bad thing, but sometimes you just want to have some fun. Or just dive into a world without any big bad guys and wars.

I have to admit, I haven´t found one for myself

That could be a reason why I decided to create my own story/comic like that. A kinda road trip story through a fantasy world with short little stories, that build upon each other, but aren´t about a world on the brink of destruction, just some characters and their "normal" daily adventures.
