Hi! I am a budding writer who recently came up for this brilliant Sci-fi story that is super steampunk but also contains numerous bits of humor. I don't want to discuss the details much here but if you decide to work with me or are even considering it, I can give you a run down.

It will be long term as I am writing an actual book and have decided that this would be a great way to get some visuals and also get the story out there.

I'm looking for someone with experience and has a well developed art style. I'd prefer it if you can draw digitally. The backgrounds will often be detailed so I would like it if you are comfortable with that and are good a drawing backgrounds.

Unfortunately I am broke so this project is unpaid for now. I am open to various drawing and coloring styles until I find the "perfect" one. My deadlines are pretty relaxed so you can take your time but I will have a specific deadline for when I send the script to you so don't worry about that.

If this interests you please PM me. Thank you for your time! @{}@

Thanks fro replying! Your art is really good but not quite what I'm looking for. Sorry.

Wellll since its unpaid...theres this saying "beggers cant be choosers"

I trying to write a book to get published and I wanted this so I could see what is happening to better plan things out and also to get his out there. No offence but keep your rude comments to yourself.

Full offense but beggar really cannot choose. I advise you to think through your plans once again.

If you really aim for publication with "high-quality" outcome, I suggest you to invest some money in it. Nothing can be achieved without sacrifice, it is an investment after all.

If your story is really that good you deserve a good art. Good art just like a good story needs hard work and effort to make and perfect. Thus, it is only fair to give your artist some adequate compensation. Money talks, and value your shit accordingly.

Art is hard and especially harder if you are not doing it for yourself, including as fulfilling meticulous demands from people. If you want professional-grade art, offer professional-grade compensation. So it is fair that both sides has equal things to lose when things go south, or equal gain when things sail smooth. Give equal respect to who you are collaborating with.

I also suggest you to link your previous work or at least talk about your idea a bit to entice people. How can anyone know how brilliant your series is without knowing much about it? You are here basically pitching it for people to draw it, do some job attracting the artists.

It is also makes you more credible if you have a finished work to show, because some collaborators are first-timer with high hopes that lose passion halfway and quit when things does not go that way (e.g. it flops).

Also, dear novelist: There is no fucking demands or mandate that your story needs to be a webcomic ASAP. You can stay on your lane writing novel (which is nothing bad and there are some successful novels adapted into webcomic if you want it so badly). You can also wait, earn money or trust of the community, and hold a respectful collaboration with artists.

The previous poster wasn't being rude at all. They were merely pointing out that if you rock up on a forum asking for an artist willing to work for free on art with detailed backgrounds then you are unlikely to get many takers. Personally speaking, I think it's rude when people attempt to get work for free. But that's just me

May I suggest you post examples of your previous work here? You ask it of the artists, and artists are going to want to know the quality of your work in return. A brilliant story? Pitch it here, give a summary at least. You're asking someone to work for free AND do the extra work of DMing you to get the info before you even consider them.

Best of luck!

You know what? I’m a writer with many experiences in collaboration. Paid and Free.

And claiming to be the big new hit and asking for high-quality art for free??

That isn't right.

Please. There are too many ”Idea People” out there making a bad name on real writers.
You are making a fool out of yourself and you pour gasoline on the fire.

If you want free work, it should be as a hobby with share and respect for whoever wants to create a story with you.

We all need to trust each other.

You are basically asking for high quality art worthy of being publishing but offering no compensation because you are "broke"...and you get offended at being pointed out that you really don't have room to be picky considering you offer so little.

That's the wrong approach when you ask for free art in a community full of artists who value their craft.

I feel kind of bad now... I think the poster has probably got the point by now. OP, we think you done goofed, but fundamentally we are all creative people and we need to encourage each other as much as we are able. Best of luck in all your future endeavours.

Yeha I get it and I'm really sorry. I was stressed out about my book and that led me to being defensive. I've learned my lesson.

Because this is unpaid I feel like you should not aim too high since this is unpaid. If you are lucky you might find someone willing. If you change your post up again, giving a synopsis, title and basic information for the artist to know what they are getting themselves into etc. Then you would at least have someone and show your work too.
If you are just a beginner and have no experience and just wrote an actual book
It would be better that you start as a hobby and look at other books (DONT COPY), gain experience etc.
And all novels do not need picture, a bit of visuals is nice, but in my opinion, I do not read books with pictures because that is why there are words for. To describe everything that you cannot get in movies.
Maybe offer a tiny bit of money or make something that you can offer.

"The perfect one" personally I find that a bit rude because all artists have different art styles so unique and beautiful. I really think you should reword your words if you want to make a good pitch. I am only sounding rude, but I am only saying this because if you want to make a request which is UNPAID and looking for a perfect artist with detailed backgrounds etc, not saying much information on this brilliant story, no work, setting deadlines when your not offering anything whatsoever at least try do something which can be more realistically achieved and use your words a bit better when it comes to your first request ever.
A hypocrite I may seem but I want you to realize that this is not going come in thin air and you need to think how can I make things easier for the artist or even try to make an informative pitch that will help me get a real artist. If you are looking for a specific art style please do mention.
I am sorry if I gave you a hard time and sounded rude :relaxed:
Thank you and I hope I helped with a bit harsh constructive feedback?
Good luck with finding an artist and I hope you take my advice as well as everyone's
