I feel like it's unfair that I want to use Tapas mostly for writing novels, but my library is currently comics only. I should be supporting my fellow authors!
However, I'm finding myself very bored with the material that I see around the site. It's like 75% of all the novels are either high fantasy or urban fantasy. Are "The Mystical Quest for the Magical Thing" and "My Roommate the Sexy Werewolf" really my only choices...?

Nay, I say! So I'd like some suggestions for novels that are a bit out of the ordinary (relative to Tapas, at least). Suggest your own or someone else's, even if they've only just started. I don't mind waiting on people; I have a life. ^^

As I always say, though: nothing NSFW. If you'd think twice about reading it aloud in a public park, please do not suggest it to me....

I don't know how interested you are in lgbt fiction but here's a few I like

You can give mine a go if you want! It is certainly unique! I'd like to think of it as a sci-fi/fantasy story with an emphasis on identity, art, and science masquerading as a BL story, haha. Really, I was so exhausted by seeing the same BL stories everywhere on the site; they were all like, slice of life and more about sex than they were about an emotional connection. So I said to myself, 'if I keep complaining about this, maybe I should just make my own." XD

The Moth Princess is unique if you wanna try that, too. <3
If those aren't to your taste, you can try these!

I'd love to take a look at yours in my spare time, too!

check out my boys!

Well mate, there's a few...

This one is still fantasy, but well-written and with a very unique take on it, so you might still want to try it

You've probably never read anything like this one... I know I haven't! And it's well-written and refreshing, 10/10 would recommend again

Here's my favorite, unique, not-yet-recommended-here stories:

Quick question: Are you looking completed or ongoing books? This will determine my recommendations.

Hm. Based on your gripes, you might enjoy some of the content from my Mythologia entries. They're short stories, but they aren't about McGuffins or sexiness.

I need to explore more novels too.
There’s this short one i liked

Well... I write low fantasy (similar to high fantasy, but less magically based). Mostly political intrigue novels, and no quests for anything really. I don't know if that piques your interest though. I'll include some one line pitches to summarize.

Tammamori: Blossom of the Raging Sovereign — A child king struggles to lead a dying nation through a generations-long war.

Patience in the Dark — A silent warrior must protect his insufferable master, a lord's blind son, against enemy clans at all costs.

My Dear Emperor — A slave girl must plot to escape from the most powerful man in the empire.

The Amulet's Curse — An elven ambassador has a dangerous job, and a surly brewer's daughter is here to help.

You could check out my story? It's a historical fiction/mistery/paranormal story. So quite different from the usual novels you see on tapas

Not a novel but I am still very proud of my story ^^
A lot of people say it’s really unique and I love hearing that!

So if your interested:3

I think this is pretty original as far as stories go.

And if you like sci-fy might want to give this a try.

I have two series on here, and while one is high fantasy (or more light high fantasy) one is a bit out of the ordinary albeit it is somewhat urban fantasy, by way of Henshen Hero shows.

I write contemporary romance. Very plain Jame of me, I know. :joy:

Kissing wounds is about two dudes exploring their present (and past) lives as religious Christians and how it intersects with their identity.

And of course plain clean romance.

I consider mine original and different, so you can take a look, although I'm still editing the chapters I've made. It's a rock and heavy metal inspired fantasy epic that can be vaguely described as Lord of the Rings + Harry Potter + Rock and Metal and with instruments instead of wands and staffs.

You could also check "Binary Star", which I think it's much better than most premium works on Tapas.
