Oh my gosh you guys...what have I done. I decided to explore the world of comic-making with my art because I wanted to visualize some scenes of my novel Jade Kingdoms. I thought to make mini comics (think of a slice-of-life kind of thing) depicting scenes from my novel, and of course trying to be spoiler free of course haha!

Maybe this will help to get a few readers if I just do tiny comics like these? It will definitely help me with my novel artwork too.

But...what do you guys think? Obviously the majority of Tapas and the art community are orientated towards comic-making, so I wanted some insight in what you think of my FIRST try ever. XD

And I'll just leave my novel's link here too just for giggles. XD

Hi!! I follow you on instagram, your stuff is amazing. The only reason I haven't read Jade Kingdoms yet is just because it takes me more time to read novels and I have a shorter attention span. It's on my list to do so!

Your comic page is EXACTLY MY KIND OF FAVORITE STYLE. There's a combination of really clean lines for the characters in the foreground, and a nice font and clean bubbles, but a more painterly style for the backgrounds. And your COLOR SCHEMES, oh my gosh they're wonderful as always. I would LOVE to see more, but only if this is something you enjoy!! I don't like to pressure people to create things they're not passionate about.

Oh hello there, fancy meeting you here! I appreciate your positive feedback so much! I'm really happy the first attempt isn't looking all too wonky, and I was very worried about the art style actually. I'm very happy to hear you enjoy this kind of style, it makes me feel a lot better haha! I definitely am planning on practicing more and keep them tiny for now. Little bits and pieces haha.

And no worries, I'll keep them spoiler free!

That's a good page, I like the colours and abstact forms. Like @eloquent said the colours and text are well done.

The only thing I have to nitpick is the eyes. Simply put I feel like you have two things going against each other at the same time. You have a generally realistic artstyle regarding the spacial placement and proportions, but then also animeTM eyballs and eyelashes. They look like they're going side ways instead of forward. I would recommend streamlining them into a simpler shape.

I have to say you made a nice compossiton whith a lot of attention to detail

@surenlicious comics can be really hard to get a firm hold on! still, like I said, I just love the mood that a mixed lined and painted comic gives off. don't be afraid to experiment while you're still getting your footing, either. it's why I'm doing a short story comic before I dive into my main plot.

I know it can be really uncertain, but don't give up!! this is a BEAUTIFUL start and you'll only improve with time! <3

I wish I could hug you, thank you so much! I will keep on experimenting until I actually dare to make a bigger storyline myself haha!

Your page is looking awesome, Surenlicious. Keep that line and I would definitely check it out!

Thank you so much! I hope by doing little comics like this my novel becomes a little more interesting haha. Thank you for your kind comment!

Well, today making images is a must to get the most attentions out there, and I think making a comic to draw that attention to your novel is a great idea.

You can see when any movies or series - inspired by books - comes out, everyone wants to know the written story behind it.

So, in my opinion, you're in the right track.
Keep it up!
