Hello

Some of you may look at your inbox flooded with likes and you might be wondering..

Why did the latest chapter get liked before the earliest chapter?

That's a very good question. The Answer is I read your novel/ comic backwards.

Yes Backwards, on a site i'm on called The Duck the latest page of a comic appears before the earlier pages so when the last page of a work appears first I got in the habit of reading from the latest page and went backwards through a comic's archive.

On here I sometimes do that because when I click on something every now and then I go straight to the back of a comic or novel's archive. The other reason I read backwards is it guarantees I don't miss a chapter when i'm clicking like or commenting. I'll go to the very back of a comic Duck style then keep going until i find my last like. I then check by about 2 chapters to see if i've missed an ep. (this happens sometimes)

Lately I've been having somewhat of a battle with my inbox

I'm essentially the internet equivalent of that kid who goes to the Library who wants to take the entire Library home with them. It's entirely possible I may end up being subbed to everything on this website at the rate i'm going. Reading this past year has sort of turned into the webcomic equivalent of Man vs Food. Except instead of a guy eating spicy food it's a Pigeon at a laptop binge reading entire archives.

Essentially it means at this point I have to prioritise reading some works over others. There's a lot of incredible stuff creators make on here. It's impressive how varied Fiction can be between Comics and novels. Honestly I at least 1000 of the comics and books i'm subbed to are better than the typical Webtoon or Tapas Original. Binge reading today kind of got me down a little bit because so many of you have so much great stuff that's genuinely worth reading yet a lot of it goes undiscovered. I know it's the nature of the comics industry but going be real I still have no idea why Tapas never promoted stuff like Infinite Strike or Karamador, they were on the site for years.

I like hoarding is the honest truth, I try to be tidy, my house is still cluttered with old video games before my time or stacks and stacks of DVDs on my shelves. Don't worry i'm not in the How Clean is your House territory i'm cleaner than that lol, but I still have my Comic collection in a glass cabinet to the left of me on the right of me is the SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U and Nintendo Switch (my NES is at my grand parents house lol). I also have a Master system Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn and a Dreamcast. In life I sometimes get a bit frustrated with how much stuff I have but It's the memories associated with it I cherish. On Here i'm no different in that regard I look at thumbnails or titles of comics or novels and I remember what I was doing when I first saw it. The truth is your comics and novels are as much my time capsules as my old video games are.

I want to thank you all for creating, I am going to attempt to Man V Food my way through every single update of my current stack and leave comments, but yes it's why when you update I don't instantly show up, because my inbox blows up and there's a chance I could end up missing the update.

^ To get around that I instead go trekking round people's walls i'm subbed to a lot of stuff so chances are I run into a creator then I go through as much of their backlog as I can.

I went somewhat inactive for a while because I had a bad patch. I'm back to where I was when I was feeling it last year which is good and I hope I can keep going at the rate i'm going. That being said going forward I'm planning on prioritising active comics and novels. I'm fine to stay subbed to stuff that's completed or old but my policy now is If you reply to my comments I'll add your stuff to my favourites bar and comeback when I can. It's not physically possible to comment on every single update so I'll leave like bombs when I can. I want everyone in this community to succeed as much as possible, I genuinely love it here.

Another check I do is i'll post an image on someone's wall and i'll see if they reply to me. If I get a reply i'm more likely to come back, but yes I mainly wanted to make this post I don't want anyone to take it personal if i've comment binged through an archive and i'm suddenly gone after you've updated 5 or 10 times since. I have to read in batches and prioritise who's active.

WIsh you all the best keep at it ^^

My reading habits are this:

When a new comic or novel piques my interest I will check it out. If it passes the muster I will subscribe. That does not necessarily mean that I will start reading it right now, only that I have put it "in the queue". For this reason you will not likely start seeing likes or comments from me straight away. The only exceptions to this will be if it's a brand new story with only a few episodes and I can catch up while, say, sitting in my truck while waiting for my workplace to open (so 15 minutes or so). If that is the case I will binge, catch up, and start liking/commenting as updates come.

As time passes and I work my way through the other series that are ahead of yours in the queue, I will see your updates in my notifications. I will still not like or comment, because I haven't started reading yet, but it does remind me that your story exists. Eventually I will finish a series and open up a new slot. This is where luck comes in, because if this happens just when your series updates I will start your series right then and there. If no "in the queue" series has updated recently I will scroll back through my "subscriptions" tab until I find the one that I just finished (priority will be given to books that are a part of a series), then scroll back ahead until I find the next new one.

Once I start reading your series you will get "like-bombed", usually 5 to 10 episodes at a time. When I binge I BINGE. For that reason I might not leave comments (don't want to distract myself, unless I just can't pass up a joke) and will usually read until I'm tired (or get busy), at which point I'll go back and "like" each episode that I've read (this is why you'll get a bunch at once). I use "likes" as bookmarks, so that the next time I return to your series I'll know where I left off, whether it be on my laptop, phone, or iPad).

Now this is where it gets weird: Once I've binged and read a bunch of your story, I WILL FORGET ABOUT IT. This is partially because I have the attention span of a golden retriever on meth, partially because I have several hundred series on the go (not to mention several actual, physical books, plus I'm trying to get my own stuff done!).

This does not mean that I will forget what I have read. While I do have a short attention span, I also have a fantastic memory. I will be reminded of your story when I see an update notification, at which point I will remember the story up to the point I've gotten to and go back to the last "like" I left to start binging again.

This will continue until I catch up to the current day (or, if you never update, it will not continue at all until you update two years later and I look at it and say "Holy shit, I forgot all about that one!"). Once I am up to date I will move on to the next story in my queue, and I will probably start commenting on your story as updates come.

I do that too, I don´t know why and what makes me do it and when I do it because
I don´t always do that.

It's really nice of you to post about this. I often feel guilty for not being up to date with stories. Recently I've lost internet and been ill, so it feels overwhelming having well over 50 tapas stories I'm now behind on and two real life novels published by my friends who are waiting for reviews:sweat:

Anyway I'm so glad you're in a better place yourself and able to enjoy creating and reading other people's work on tapas
