Years ago, I made a comics pitch that didn't go anywhere with the publisher (a friend from the company says a lot of submissions got lost around then due to poor admin, but who knows what happened), but I kept it on the backburner for a while because it's not a bad concept. The problem is though.... I'd have to rename a large number of the characters if I did it now, and change all the themeing.
The comic concept was called "House of Diamond" and it was about a young girl who becomes a guardian to a royal family who were shapeshifters... Oh boy, do you know where this is going? The royal family were all named after precious stones, with main characters Opal and Jasper, side characters called things like Sapphire, Pearl, Spinel etc... Problem is, a few years after this unsuccessful pitch, a little show called Steven Universe launched it's pilot and got greenlit for a series (you might have heard of it ). The main character and all her guardian friends followed a different naming theme (birds), but the entire royal family's names and designs, and name of the series would need changing if I ever tried to rework the concept for another try!
