Firstly I'd like to start by saying 'Hello!!'

So I've started working on a webcomic and have been making art pieces and writing the story while trying to get some buzz going in the online communities I'm apart of.

What I'd like to know is, what is the best way to create the comic itself? Write the story/script and then make the episodes based on the finished story, or have the story in mind and just make the episodes based on that?

I'm super excited to get this off the ground as it's been a bit of a dream of mine since I was young to be able to do something like this!

It really depends on what works for you.
What I’ve found to work best for me is to already come up with the big events/conflicts. But only write the script as I’m creating the comic. This makes it so that I don’t derail as I have a path I’m working towards, but keeps it spontaneously for myself as I don’t know yet how exactly everything is going to happen.
But it would also depend on the length of your comic. If it would be something short, then I’d write a script as it gives you better control over the length.

And if you’re curious about what I create with my way of working, here’s my comic

For my novels I do these steps:
1. A base script( not detailed)
2.brainstorming around the under developed script
3.Develope the script
4.add all the details.

Awesome! Thanks for the tips! I'll keep them all in mind for when I'm working on this! Thankyou so much!

I work basically the same way, but for me it's less about 'keeping things spontaneous' but rather 'I will never get around to the drawing if I felt like I had to finalize my script before starting work on the visuals' :sweat_02: Plus, having some stuff drawn 'reifies' it and makes it feel more like 'a thing' that now exists in the real world, which is good for morale :stuck_out_tongue:
