So. I'm all about promoting our novels on Tapas, because novels need all the love that comics get too. Also, my reading list is running low so I'm looking for entertainment to pass my work hours by from my Tapas pals (you guys)!
SOOOO. Please post your novel here, give a brief description, AND answer these three questions:
Which of your characters are you most attached to and why?
Do you remember what triggered/influenced you to come up with your story?
Which novel on Tapas, other than your own, did you really enjoy?
I'll get this shin-dig started, kids!
My novel is called Vows of the Sentinel:
The description is right there, but it goes into much more than that. My MAIN main character, Roenan, ends up in a country that he was warned against his entire life by his parents. He doesn't understand why they took him or what they need from him. He quickly meets a man from the enemy country (Vernajja) named Drakke who begins to grow close to him. He also befriends a fellow prisoner of war named Saive who hates Drakke and anyone else from Vernajja. The story is about the relationship between the three and of Roenan figuring out why he is so important to the country that took him from his home when he was at his weakest.
Let's be clear, I'm very attached to my main three characters, but my character Drakke really resonates with me. Each of my mains sort of takes one of my traits (Roenan has my determination and Saive has my stubbornness), but Drakke and I relate the most. He's one of my favorite characters to write because I feel like I've pulled a lot of personal experiences I've had and morphed them through him, and he has my humor and impulsiveness.
I think I was most influenced to write this story because (1.) I really enjoyed BL mangas and how they made me feel and chummy inside (2.) I began to think of a story involving two people from very different countries and cultures falling in love under hard circumstances (I lived abroad for a year and this probably helped with that thought) (3.) I was working in a political office with a lot of views I disagreed with, felt guilty, and began writing this sort of out of spite... in that office... on my iphone notepad.
I've only read a couple of novels on Tapas so far (which I really want to change) and I read Unworthy of Love. I enjoyed the gritty realism of it and how the characters struggle with their own issues that are reflected through their actions. And I read Unworthy of Love recently, hence me being all stoked on wanting to read more novels.
NOW SEND THEM MY WAY!!!
