I like this thread! Plus I've never actually described my novel other than the description so let's try it!
"Beauty of the Sea" follows the story of Cora, the heir to the throne of Aecor, who leaves her life of luxury to journey into these waters to search for a deity she has merely read about. Even though she is set to be married, Cora ignores her responsibilities, neglecting the demands of the Queen Regent, her mother, Vitana. Of course, her mother resents Cora for reading these stories but nonetheless, the princess continues to stay stubborn and daydream. That is until her life is turned upside and she sets off on a journey. Along her journey, her soon-to-be suiter, Prince Amor, follows her out of necessity to escape his abusive father, at his side, his knight in shining armor, Oren. These three young people set off on a journey that will test them against the world and each other.
Which of your characters are you most attached to and why?
I feel most attached to Vitana. She was one of the first characters I wrote and came up with. One thing I had in mind when I created Vitana was this complex to make up for not being enoughâover-compensating for a loss. She's got flaws but she'll do anything to protect her kidâMama Bear gotta protect her cubs.
Do you remember what triggered/influenced you to come up with your story?
Y'know, I can't recall what influenced it specifically but I know it had something to do with a song, "Written In The Water" by Gin Wigmore. When I got the plan I started writing and then changed half of it because I wanted more than a god-complex story. So I stopped working on it and then started reading some books and decided not only did I want a story about a goddess and a girl but about the struggles of that girl. Thus came "Beauty of the Sea."
Which novel on Tapas, other than your own, did you really enjoy?
I don't have a lot of time to read on Tapas so most of the Novels in my library are finished, but, currently, I've gotten into a decent groove for Penni's "For the Light." I love the world and the characters and how they interact.
