I figured I'd ask out of curiosity.

It is true I do make comics, but I also have other hobbies like voice acting, illustration / logo / GUI design. Just recently started learning game design and more.

I wanted to ask what everyone else does when they're not making comics or novels.
It doesn't have to be a profession of any kind, just something you enjoy, or that you've started learning.

I like cooking, especially baking. Idk if i'd consider that a talent as I've been doing it since I was like 7. technically I just acquired the skill over a very long time.

I also like drawing (I don't illustrate my comic, so it's a bit unrelated to my literal work atm) specifically birds and flowers and weird combinations of animals like arthropods and such with plants.

I'm also into dance, pretty decent at singing I would say, and like writing stand up comedy.

I also write poetry, Though this somewhat is a part of my novel and comic, as you mentioned illustration, I figured I'd include it too.

Oh, i'm also into fashion and styling, only virtually, as I have no budget for clothes atm lol

When I'm not making my Space Quail pages or working on books... or going to cons and such with said books...

I'm usually in the studio making stained glass things! Or weaving... or sewing things... or practicing my harp... or going on adventures to local museums and/or donut shops.

Oh! Or I'm hanging out with my cats and watching the birds and squirrels that come to hang out in our backyard. That's lots of fun.

My biggest hobbies are writing, drawing, reading, gaming, and taking care of my rabbits. My winter hobbies are baking and knitting, lol. I love reading comics/manga and listening to scary stories, usually by letting youtube videos about creepy stuff or books play in the background while I do other stuff.

ETA: Briefly tried out gardening before I realized everything I touch dies. :cry_01:

Is gaming a hobby?
Other than that I like to read comics and sing, haha!

Other than drawing and writing, I like to sing (I think I'm good, but I am biased). I also like to crochet and do nail art. This is the last thing I crocheted but I'm making pokeballs for my brother and I.

You can see I'm kinda on a pokemon kick given my nails this week.

sorry about the lighting, the room light is this weird ochre color.

Oh and revisiting the same board game concept over and over... and over

I fly single-engine aircraft, hike, garden, and collect retrotech! Aviation is easily my favorite hobby, and I love getting to just go out and punch some holes in the sky. (Though… the weather here has been horrible for hobby flying lately, lol.) I’m also fortunate to live near some beautiful hiking trails, including one of America’s worst national parks. (I don’t think it’s that bad, as long as you don’t mind mosquitoes.) I try to grow as much of my own food as possible, so my home is full of edible plants— both inside and outside. I’ve recently started experimenting with hydroponics for my kitchen herbs, and it’s going very well! Lastly, I looove old tech. Especially VHS tapes, Betamax, and cassettes. I currently own over 200 VHS tapes, along with a bunch of other beautiful old junk.

It´s a long list:

-singing
-upright bass
-guitar
-songwriting
-performing
-recording and mixing
-drawing
-illustration
-poster / record cover design
-story writing
-song writing

There are a lot of things I tried like trying to program a game when I was a kid.
I used to dance but I wouldn´t call that a hobby or a talent. I´m doing sport.
I´m playing poker and I play video games. I was always into the 1950s since
I was a kid, the music, movies, cars, furniture, clothes, pretty much everything

The only “real” hobby I have I drawing, but I did make a lot of plushies a few years back. I’d also say I’m decent ish at cooking too.

Quite a few other hobbies:

  • cooking
  • reading
  • playing video games
  • trying to make video games (no success here yet)
  • animating/making short films
  • going on long walks
  • board games, especially chess
  • racket sports (tennis, badminton, table tennis etc)

My other hobbies? When I'm not drawing I cook, I clean, I eat. I used to play a guitar but that was three years ago. I guess I've kind of stopping doing my other hobbies, evening gaming is kind of difficult for me to do now without feeling like I'm wasting time. I've also stopped talking to my friends. Time's changed. My only hobby now is illustrating and writing. If I'm not drawing I'm writing. But hey, at least I can sometimes sit in the corner of my room and space out, that's one hobby I never let go of. Lol

I own a ramen yatai. I also do car YouTube things in Japanese.

My other hobby is K-pop!

Budget-wise, I've narrowed it down to only spend big money on my favorite group - SHINee. I love making projects, learning their dances, cosplaying, passing out stickers at their stickers, and meeting up with other fans!

reading this topic title is just me taking a moment to be a Gen Z

like BOld of you to AssUme the fact that i WRite stoRIES means i'm TALENTED at it

In the meantime (when I'm not writing), I go to the gym, learning card tricks and just casually trying to improve myself in any way I can by doing helpful things for me, with what I can grow myself as a person.

@Lazy-Gamer what kind of game?

My hobbies are varied: Hunting, fishing, reading, writing, drawing, cars, and anything mechanical.

My talents: I am very mechanically inclined. I fix European cars for a living (mainly Audi, BMW, Benz, Jaguar, Landrover, Volvo, and Volkswagen but also occasionally Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and the like). When young I wanted to be an engineer, but unfortunately fiscal realities prevented me from going to university. I have an engineer's mind though - I can take things apart, figure out what's wrong with them (and why they broke), and put them back together again with ease because I know how stuff works, and I can look at a structure and see the strengths/weaknesses/load paths, et cetera.

My way of going through life is this: If something needs to be done and I know how to do it, I will do it. If I don't know how to do it I will figure it out, and then I will do it. Essentially the only thing that will prevent me from doing a job myself is not having the equipment, and even then if the equipment costs less than it would be to pay somebody to do the job, I will buy the equipment, learn how to use it, and do the job. Because of this I have a LOT of tools and equipment. Everything from mechanic tools to a full set of woodworking equipment to a cement mixer to a backhoe to a loader tractor.

Reading, a little bit of gaming, and I used to do MMA when I was younger

I just kinda stared at the question for a while because for a second I was like wait what else DO I do

I’m constantly drawing even when it’s not for my comic, sketches, finished marker pieces, oil pastel drawings, watercolor, and gouache are usually what I go for.

I also write! I don’t have my writing posted anywhere but I do write novels  I just need to figure out how to publish them irl lol… One of my favorite hobbies though is writing/drawing in my dream journal, I’ve been recording my dreams off and on since I was eight and it helps me brainstorm for future stories. The subconscious is filled with amazing ideas! >:0

And I’m not good at it by I do play piano and compose a little bit of music, mostly ambient electronic stuff as I only have an electric keyboard right now- RIP my grandmas upright piano </3. I also love old technology and collect old ds games, and I’m hoping to buy a windows xp one day as well as an old iMac of some sort :sparkles: I’m always researching about how to persevere and refurbish old computers.

I also love making little paper dolls of my characters, I’ve been doing that since I was a kid as well. Here’s some more recent ones.
!

That's a good rule to live by. I try to live by it myself.

Also your hobbies sound like a mix of my parents hobbies. Dad's a mechanic and mom loves fishing, hunting and other out doorsy activities.
