@KevinReijnders Next move is to start working on Kyara as a fantasy Knight so keep your eyes peeled this week >:0
@beebutterbee she's old enough to have used a flip lol and you captures her essence so well, she looks so pretty. tysm! may i share this on my ig and credit you?
also, i hope your showcase event goes well. make sure you give yourself a breather lol
Oh good it’s not too time period inaccurate then lol. I’m glad you like it and for sure! Feel free to share on insta
And the gallery opening hasn’t happened yet I just finished the works, they got picked up on Monday though so there’s not much else I have to so I can just chill again it was a lot of work! I did three new paintings.
I’m not sure if the gallery will? There’s only a few selected pieces in the promo and mines not in there. But I have posted them on my instagram but that’s secret My instagram isn’t just art it’s like my irl connected blog too so I feel uncomfortable sharing it the World Wide Web over here :0
yeah, Catholicism is a big thing in many hispanic cultures. it made its way into my novel for that reason too, tho i'm not catholic either. kind of a funny coincidence lol. There;s something about the way you shade the blushes or flush on the faces that i really like, though i can't put my finger on what exactly it is about it. it's really pretty.
Yes exactly! It is a big part of Hispanic cultures, I mean I still observe a lot of the holidays even without being Catholic anymore. Also thank you! It’s actually an exaggeration of hyperpigmentation on the face, like dark circles, on some people it’s extends to the corner of the eye and further below and looks a bit like blush. I’ve noticed it on many people so I like including in my art
It's interesting the sort of things people notice and include in their art, because tbh, I've never noticed that sort of hyperpigmentation at all lol. Maybe it's because the hyperpigmentation I've seen looks different on people with my complexion and there about, which is most people i see regularly
Oh true, hyperpigmentation comes in all different spots and shades. I guess I’m taking reference from a lot of the people I grew up with, who were mostly Hispanic. A lot of my aunties have this type of dark circles, and I have it a little bit too. I see it also on people who just have olive undertones without being Hispanic too tho!
On darker skin I tend to notice the hyperpigmentation is on the eyelids? But not always the case, everyone is so different and I think that’s cool to capture in art my dad actually has such dark pigmentation on his eyelids it looks like he’s wearing eyeshadow lol I think it looks pretty cool honestly, so I add deeper tones to eyelids/around the eyes often in my art.
Thank you, I've just been playing alot of Sims 4 And I actually thought that drawing was cute! Not cringe, omg that's so mean to yourself xD But you could draw her in Mara's outfit! I could draw Mara in one of Chariot's princess outfits too, but I think I'll do it traditional because I'm having a hard time doing detailed work right now. I'll still make it cute though but it just won't have a big ol jumbled background xD
@beebutterbee No problem, I love traditional art myself. I find it so much easier than digital. and don't worry about bgs. Would you drop your ref of Chariot for me again tho? it's lost in the sea if this thread xd.
@beebutterbee my tablet us about to die so I'll add shadows tomorrow
I hope I channeled her essence well, the hair was tricky to make it similar to Mara's while maintaining the integrity of Chariot's curls.
omg this is adorable!! <3 <3 Also I can really see you improving with faces your proportions have been getting better, and with your other character her skintone was looking much more readable but still reading deeply melanated. Guess I'm going to have to draw Mara >:O!! I shall go off draw a cute one of her too.
Yeah it looks super cute!! And don’t be too down, I think people just wanted to help. You’ve seemed to take some of the advice too, making her more readable through a lighter color, but still it gives off the vibe of how deep her skintone is. Don’t get too discouraged, art is a lot of mess ups and just learning from it.
Or is for me currently, I’m reworking your part of the trade. My brush pen I was using for Mara, not to be confused with Mora, RAN OUT so it got all effed up and splotchy and terrible so I had to paint over it
I wasn’t intending to make you a painting but it’s sort of turning out that way. In art I feel like I make lots of mistakes but I just work with it until something does start working.
Keep with it, you got all your characters to draw >:0!! Stories to tell! I mean to say I just don’t want to leave you feeling discouraged, sending care
Yeah, i think a lot of folks just wanted to help too, so I'm trying to take the advice to improve the character design, it's just frustrating trying to learn something this hard lol, and it's even more stressful making mistakes where people can see you, imao
yikes.
this is so relatable lol
thanks that means a lot
@beebutterbee Omg this is AMAZING! can I share this on my ig and credit you? and yeah, that was way more rendering than i expected you to do
Of course! feel free to share any of my art trades in the future too. And the Chariot is so cute honestly, you really are the queen of drawing plus sized characters!! Thank you for drawing her for me <3
Also maybe the skin tone issue you're having is actually a problem of screen color/tone! On my laptop, and the computer in the house, your drawings are super readable. But on my ipad its very dark, but that's an issue with smart phones- they're too saturated. I'd never use them to edit color for my prints because they color just isn't true to match what it will print like. Because right now on my laptop I can see Mora's face very clearly! Ahh technology Dx I love her outfit though!! Lol a crusty mom xD I can see the retro vibes in her outfit, I love the pattern in the top especially. I'm a sucker for intricate textiles!!
Ohh, thank you and you're welcome, I'm glad you like it.
Maybe, if only there was a way to know what it would look like on all devices xd. It would make things so much easier.
Yeah, her harbor mom is old as dirt, but she's developed a lot of skills in that time. Glad you like the fit XD, it's on of my favorites i've designed so far I think. Therese must have better taste than i do
Two new fits I drew yesterday
This fit is actually made up of Therese's clothes but it's being worn by an unusually elderly-looking Mandy
Clothes Mandy likes way more. And yeah. I'm aware her hair is a mess, and so is she. Canonically, it was ruined by an incompetent hair stylist.
The double hair bow and body paint I'm considering a part of the outfit
