Coffee. We drink it hot, cold, with milk, with sugar, with whiskey, alone, with friends, at professional meetings, while waiting, to wake up, to share a moment…
Coffee is so much a part of our lives that most of us don’t even spare it a thought anymore.
It is like a constant background character, it gives an extra depth to our stories, an extra flavour to our mornings, sometimes an excuse to go out and sit around a table.

So why not talk about it some more… Over a coffee?

Faeries and Ents couldn’t exist or function without it, and so we have decided to make it the subject of an anthology!
We are not only a creative collaboration, but also a publisher, and what better way to introduce ourselves to our fellow creatives than to invite them to share stories over a coffee?

For what we've done already and where we stand for, check out our website and tapas page!

Exactly.

Over A Coffee will present stories written and drawn by Tapas creators, and will be published in paper form by yours truly (aka Faeries and Ents) and sold, among other things, at conventions, and on our website both digitally and physically (again, by us).
Would you like to be a part of this adventure? Pitch in!

One more question. Are we supposed to made the page to read from left to right like normal American comic or does right to left acceptable?

This is awesome you guys! Can't wait to see it come together!

This seems really cool! Can I ask if you've done projects like this before?
Also how many contributors are you looking at? 4-10 pages is quite a lot so I'm just wondering how long it'll be.
Definitely interested in joining in!

We are looking to get anywhere from 5 to 10 pitches, with the total pagecount to be around 60.

This is new to us as a publisher, but we've done our research and will try to let things go as smoothly as possible. Everyone has to start somewhere right?

Cool, I was just curious. Your post seems really professional so I have no doubt you'll run a successful kickstarter. I'll try to come up with something

Thank you  We're going to do our best, can't wait to see what you'll come up with. ^^

Plus we took a quick look over your comic... Your style is beautiful!

That's a bummer! :frowning: But it's really easy to make one though, just a few steps as long as you're over 18 and you only need an email address

Don't you also need a bank account? Thankfully, I have one, and will try to think of something for this anthology, it sound really nice =)

Hahaha yeah fair, one of those might be adviced, we're not going to send money over mail, that's for sure XD

Awesome to hear you're pitching too  This upcome is already bigger than we expected

You're Indonesian right? You only need a bank account to get one. You don't even need a credit card to open one, it'll stay unverified but you could use it normally. And only make am account on PC since you can't make one one mobile (plus PayPal is not really integrated on Indonesian system yet tho, so there's nothing much you can use except accepting payment, sending money and the like)

I hope it's new information because I read that you need a VCC and no longer can't do it without credit card, but I don't know if it still can be used for unverified account.

Does it have an "admin fee?" Because I don't think I will be using it too much.

Thank you!

Not sure about it, but you can search on Google the instructions. I made it last year I think, and I only need name, age, email, phone number, complete address and post code, your ID number for confirmation, bank account (duh) and I guess that's it?

I'm still unverified cause I don't have credit-card lmfao. XD but it's still working okay. But I'm using personal account tho.

By using business you can accept more money but there's fee everytime u use it.

They took fee for donations (basically people's sending money to you) for a few percent, but I don't really know the details but you can go to the website and look up on their info.

I never linked my credit card to paypal either in the US or in Switzerland and it works without any issues. I have it linked to my checking account.

i had a paypal that was linked to nothing for a while... deleted it since i primarily use the shared account i have with my mom.... thats just slowly becoming my account cause she doesnt use it

You don’t need a bank account nor a credit card to open and use paypal.
You can make an account on mobile.
Paypal takes a fee off money transactions, but doesn’t have a ‘subscription/user fee’.
You do need to be over 18 (you don’t need confirmation straight away, but paypal freezes your account if they think you’re lying about your age in which case using your confirmation (ID) comes in handy)
If you don’t have a bank account to send the money to, you can simply use the money directly from paypal in places that allow it. For example, you can buy games on steam, but you can’t donate to a kickstarter. (If your paypal is connected to a credit card you can do both).

Yeah, like I said making it on my country apps is difficult because PayPal is not particularly integrated (I might be using the wrong word) here yet. But maybe the app has updated and you can make it through mobile now. (Btw I registered using my phone browser)

At everyone talking about Paypal:

Nevermind, I made it thanks to the info. Don't continue the conversation please.

Hey, this sounds like tons of fun, but I have a few questions!
I'm not sure if you're planning on specifying how large the comics should be. Since it looks the best if it's consistent with equally sized page margins and titles, should we think about that or is it all free hands as long as it within A4? How many panels per page? Is the there a max or minimum?

Does the participants of the magazine get a copy when its finished? Would it be any extra fees to receive it if you live far away? Also what country will it be published? It could be important in how the content appears. (Culture differences and whatnot, Swedish coffee is different from other countries.)

I feel like participants should get some more information about layout, like a template, especially when it comes to the thank you notes. I'd at least like to know how it's supposed to be presented. The design of a magazine can be critical to how professional it appears.

Oh, I meant browser? Apps are usually the same globally, they have no reason to release different versions to different countries

Is that so? I can't make one back then, so maybe I'm the one that didn't really understand it.

That's what I want to know too. Margins for manga and normal American comic actually wasn't the same so I want to know which you guys would be using.

The specified size is A4, so anything bigger or smaller will simply not work on the page size we will send out to the printer.

Participants will receive 5 copies of their own to sell or give away for themselves (may be more depending on the kickstarter, but at least 5 guaranteed)

It'll be published in the Netherlands, with Europe being a very active comic scene and selling both the digital and physical copies on our website.

As for the template, good idea! Let me fix it up

EDIT: added the template!

EDIT2: I overlooked your question about receiving copies with extra fees: No, the delivery cost will be ours no matter where it needs to go. (at most it won't have a Track and trace code because it could go up to €40 for us with that included)

Coffee's a great theme :> I'll definitely give it some thought over the coming weeks~

Yaaaay  We'd love to see that

Edit: added an extra template to show the advised comic sizes (stay within the black lines), and the one we will use ourselves for the printer.

For the pitching process, would you rather we send a plot summary or a draft of the story?

Hi there! The form for the pitch just popped up, so I'll have to resend my email again ^^"

This looks pretty interesting  maybe I will pitch something.

In particular something about the industry / creation of coffee seems really interesting to make (since I have agriculture background I like these kinds of things ~ )

I do have one question, in the application form, what is the difference between the "art examples" and "concept art"? Is "art examples" basically like a portfolio, not having anything to do with the particular project but just to show the artist's skill in general?
