an advantage of being Indian is that you know English better than your native language. @kimketli
Since we're promoting ourselves here, I might try, though I don't find myself too promotable. xD
I'm 27, not married and living in Poland. I've been drawing since I remember and maybe I don't consider myself amazing at it, but decent... I think. xD I get a lot of ideas for my stories from imagining stuff before sleep, lol.
I spend my free time drawing, listening to music and playing video games. I'm extremely shy so I have a hard time talking to people, but I do my best!
I'm not a promotable person, but ok, why not. I'm 24, living in the small town in Ural Mountains, region of Bashkiria, it's in Russia. I don't have a job, only part-time seasonal things like sawmill or selling berries at summer. There is very little jobs available after the factory was closed in early 2000s. And overall this place is very depressive and bleak, there is almost nothing to do except drinking.
I'm poorly socialized, and don't like social interactions so much. I love weapons, cars, military stuff, video games, action movies, history, history of wars, legal stuff and drawing of course, also 3D modelling. I like to shoot at wild bottles and repair cars, I have two of them, Lada 2101 and Lada 2105. I've got a law degree this year, but anyway there is no job for me here.
Except for very little things I'm bad at everything else what I'm doing, that sucks. I want to start learn programming and create my own video game, maybe I even will do that.
Also I'm somehow always almost invisible (probably because I'm boring), and people around me noticing me very rarely, nobody cares about me. I don't like my life at all, I don't know what it for.
I also plan to join the army, maybe even became a professional soldier, because I don't like civilian society around me (common values, goals, morals, almost everything), maybe military socium is better, I want to try at least.
I'm 25 about to turn 26, and like to dabble in many art mediums. I have a lot of ambitious projects planned up in my head that I'm always afraid I'll never actually get around to doing (I'm a horribly-afflicted procrastinator).
I've been writing stories since I was very young and was self-taught for the most part, but the first time I posted anything for the world to see and not just my friends was here on Tapas.
Someday I want to get my butt in gear and start the webcomic I have planned, and eventually I'd actually like to design a videogame.
What'd be really great is if I could make art a full-time job. But for now I'm writing during my off-time from my day job.
Eh, why the hell not! Hi, guys
I'm 28, from Russia. Was born in the Russia's Far East, near China. I am a big fan of Japanese and Chinese culture, the first anime I saw was Sailor Moon and I actually began to draw just because of it!
I am a bachelor of Chinese university, my thesis was on influence of Daoism on Tang poetry, but now I'm not even sure I can read the introduction, hahah.
I am drawing 50% of my time and all the rest time I'm cooking, learning languages (German and Japanese), reading fantasy, watching videos about Japan and watching my husband play games. Most of my friends live in different towns, which by Russia's standarts is 8 hours of flight away, so I mostly talk to people on internet
Hiya, I'm a 16 year old Taiwanese girl, I live in the US, and I'm not married. :c
I'm currently stressing out over high school and SATs, and try to cram my comic into my schedule despite not having ANY extracurricular. I go to a school where everyone thinks they're smart and flex on each other whenever their test scores are released.
I really like listening to jazz and elevator music, but also really love electronic
My current goal is to complete my ongoing webcomic and print it so I can lovingly flip through the pages of my own artwork. hehehe
I'd also like to create a bunch of stories with asian characters that don't carry calculators everywhere or have rebellious purple streaks in their hair.
Greetings, at 43
I am one of the elder farts of this forum. I've earned a B.A. in English and have written one published article. I consider myself mostly an editor and will soon be offering my services for hire to fellow Tapas creators. For the last couple of years, I've been doing it for free here. On the side, I participating in colaborative projects like the Official Tapas Fight Club and produced a few stories including two humorous sci-fi novellas. My favored project includes stories, a roleplaying game, and soon a card game all available on Tapas and all released under Creative Commons licenses.
I saw this thread, so why not.
I’m 22 years old, living in California, USA. #ForeverSingle Woo, NorCal. Anyway, I’m your average (struggling) college student that’s taking up Nursing for my major, then I plan to go into the field of Neuroscience for grad school.
I’m a writer. I started out on Wattpad, which I know to some people on here, that website is hated a lot. I did break the code for popularity there a while back when I got the Watty for a novel of mine. I think it was the only action focused novel in my category. Anyway, I’m pretty flexible when it comes to genres, but I mostly focus on high and urban fantasies with realism in them. Making things epic and describing action scenes are my specialty!
I’m working on a 17 book saga. All of my stories are set in the same universe, so characters will cross over. It’s a lot of planning, but I think I polished most of the outlines well enough for the stories to be decent and make the pacing flow well. I do try to avoid writing happy endings and I’m not afraid to let my readers suffer alongside my characters.
I just got my own Wacom tablet recently and I’m learning to do art. I’m still trying to get the hang of doing the initial guidelines, so it’ll take me a long time before I can even start my own comic. Though, I do have something in mind when I figure out my art style. c:
My favorite stories to read are usually the ones that have some fluff and wholesomeness to them. It’s usually the main characters that makes or breaks it for me. I already have some comics and novels in my library right now that I plan to go through.
I’m a 29 year old living in California, unmarried but I’ve got a dude. I got my BA in English and moved to Ireland for 9 months where I got my MA in Applied Linguistics (I even took a CELTA course where I taught English for 1.5 months while in Ireland... there were a lot of Europeans there).
I went to FIDM in San Fransisco when I turned 18 because I was interested in art, particularly movie set design. After a year there, I realized I probably wasn’t competitive enough for the art world and went with my second love, reading. That’s why I chose English.
I also love other languages and cultures which is why I branched into linguistics. I’d love to teach English abroad (Japan or South Korea in particular), but I’m working toward getting student loan forgiveness in the USA, so I have a steady admin job at a college for now.
I love art still, and did a lot of oil painting until I got my iPad a couple months back and began trying webcomics. I also love writing in my free time. My novel has been my baby.
I also love to backpack a lot and enjoy snowboarding too!
And I’m an animal lover. I love taking care of my cats and dog.
Anyway, I loved reading all these. We have a cool community!
Hi. Kelheor said, that if she is doing this, then so am I.
I'm 31, and I am from Russia. Russia is very large, you would say, where from exactly? Well, go as far north-east as you can, and then go a little further. That where I was born, grew up and where my first unsuccessful attempts to write something good took place. I finished a school with large focus on foreign languages, and then graduated from university majoring in Japanese language and culture. After that I went to China for a couple of years to study Chinese. After all that learning of different languages it is only logical that I found work in IT where I am working till this day =) Thankfully, while in China I managed to find someone who helped me realize my real passion - writing. So now we are working on a comic together
In my free time I mostly play video games and practice chinese martial arts, so nothing much to say on this front =)
Thanks (╥﹏╥) I hope so!
Everything depends of point of view! The same person can be good from one point of view (or moral system) and bad from another. I'm glad if I'm not bad from your point of view
In case you'll eventually decide to try... I know a bunch of free / partially free online programming courses and sites with programming exercises of various levels of difficulty - starting from the simplest. So, if you will want, I may advise the appropriate course, as soon as you'll define your goal and background level of knowledge more precisely.
well... ok!
ahem This is a bit long so please prepare yourself for wall o text.
...
Ok I'm going to assume you are ready now
So I am Joan, 35 and writer of the comic. I have been through several jobs and careers, having started working at age 14 and didn't hit issues with getting steady work until my mid twenties. I have 1 sure master's degree in library sciences, a batchlors in Business Admin, a teaching certification for Texas (where I live) in the areas of library science, Math grades Pre k to 8th, Gen ed Pre K to 8th, English as a second language, Familyand Consumer Sciences, and General Special Education EC to 12.
I was a public librarian and well... short version is things didn't go as planned and I ended up jobless (not fired, just bad chain of events). Once I lost my chance there I worked on becoming a teacher and taught at some charter schools.... which prevented me from going to public schools for a while -_-. At one time I worked 3 jobs at the same time to help make ends meet. During this chaos I had my son and we managed to convince a bank to let us get a house that was on the cheap (it was going to be cheaper than renting). Eventually I managed to land some key sub jobs at some schools and it lead to my current position as a teacher for middle school teaching Family and Consumer Sciences (think what home ec was, but with a career and tech skills focus rather than house and spouse training).
The Hubby:
Thomas is the artist for our comic, and the man that keeps me at erasable levels of sanity. He is my rock when I am losing my mind and when things get hopeless for me (like the job mess... that was like... 5 years). Thomas has been drawing art and characters for years and years... his kinder/first grade art teachers set him on the path to art. His mom wasn't ok with him going to art school after high school, so instead he went to a lovely college in the State of Texas- Steven F Austin University. He graduated with high marks and found a job in Houston before I did, which meant we moved there. The first job barely lasted a year before the company was sold and almost everyone was laid off. He bounced a bit for about 8 months before finding a very stead gig with a company that had a print shop contract with a school district. He has past the 10 year mark working with that company and has slowly been helping to show that graphic designers are worth while.
The How we got to US:
So... his dad and my dad were BFF's in elementary school. But my dad eventually moved because he joined the air force. One day when I was 13, Dad and I were helping my grandmother with a remodel. She got a call from Thomas's dad asking where we were. Dad decided to visit and took me along. I met Thomas and pretty much got a crush on him ASAP (he's only 6 months younger than me). Course, Thomas being a 12 year old boy only saw a friend that was cool enough to be a friend.
When I got home he wants to talk to me and we used old school dial up internet to talk... and we wrote our first fan fiction together for Beast Wars. This kept us close as we came up with other stories together. We met again when we were 16 and then he had a crush but didn't act on it and I was clueless. SO he dated some girls after I left.
I dated people too and he helped me see one was an abusive jerk. At the same time, Thomas realized his feelings for me and I finally got hit with the clue bat too. We started long distance dating after I turned 18 and got married about a year after I got my master's. We have been together and working through our stuff for a long time. We always try hard to talk it out and respect each others feelings. I joke sometimes we've really been together for 23 years, and married for like 18, not 11 and 1/2.
So.... yeah. Oh and check hubby's deviant art page!
Yeah, you’re one of the most notable people on the Tapas forum for me! I hope things only go up hill for you. I can’t really relate since I don’t have depression, but I can empathize since I struggle with really bad anxiety. In this way, I know how difficult it can be to have something that affects your life negatively.
I’m glad you found art to help you out a bit. And I hope things get better for ya!
I'm 14 and love to create stories in my mind, but when it comes to paper... I'm not a good writer yet. My two writing dreams would be,
1. For one of my stories to become a cartoon or comic.
2.For someone to tell me my story helped them through a tough time.
To be honest, it is depressing how bad I am at writing, but I try to walk with my head high knowing that years from now my skills will have improved a lot.
I had 4 cats. Sadly one ran away a month ago.
I swap houses between my mom's and future step dad's a ton. That wouldn't be a big deal if my PC hadn't broke a week ago. Now when I go to my step dads house I can't type. Luckily my mom has a laptop I can use when at her house.
My first story was called School e.x.e. and it was written two years ago. (It was so horrid that I hid it)
My current is Two Faced (Cough chough, Please check it out, cough cough)
I love to write.
I like Anime and am always watching one series.
I play Apex Legends on Xbox and Dragon Ball Legends on mobile.
And School takes up the rest of my day.
Not really the most exciting life, but you asked for it.
Last thing, I got the name Arul from one of my favorite series I wrote in case you were wondering why my alias was so bizzare.
