Thanks (╥﹏╥) I hope so!

Everything depends of point of view! The same person can be good from one point of view (or moral system) and bad from another. I'm glad if I'm not bad from your point of view

In case you'll eventually decide to try... I know a bunch of free / partially free online programming courses and sites with programming exercises of various levels of difficulty - starting from the simplest. So, if you will want, I may advise the appropriate course, as soon as you'll define your goal and background level of knowledge more precisely.

well... ok!

ahem This is a bit long so please prepare yourself for wall o text.

...

Ok I'm going to assume you are ready now

So I am Joan, 35 and writer of the comic. I have been through several jobs and careers, having started working at age 14 and didn't hit issues with getting steady work until my mid twenties. I have 1 sure master's degree in library sciences, a batchlors in Business Admin, a teaching certification for Texas (where I live) in the areas of library science, Math grades Pre k to 8th, Gen ed Pre K to 8th, English as a second language, Familyand Consumer Sciences, and General Special Education EC to 12.

I was a public librarian and well... short version is things didn't go as planned and I ended up jobless (not fired, just bad chain of events). Once I lost my chance there I worked on becoming a teacher and taught at some charter schools.... which prevented me from going to public schools for a while -_-. At one time I worked 3 jobs at the same time to help make ends meet. During this chaos I had my son and we managed to convince a bank to let us get a house that was on the cheap (it was going to be cheaper than renting). Eventually I managed to land some key sub jobs at some schools and it lead to my current position as a teacher for middle school teaching Family and Consumer Sciences (think what home ec was, but with a career and tech skills focus rather than house and spouse training).

The Hubby:

Thomas is the artist for our comic, and the man that keeps me at erasable levels of sanity. He is my rock when I am losing my mind and when things get hopeless for me (like the job mess... that was like... 5 years). Thomas has been drawing art and characters for years and years... his kinder/first grade art teachers set him on the path to art. His mom wasn't ok with him going to art school after high school, so instead he went to a lovely college in the State of Texas- Steven F Austin University. He graduated with high marks and found a job in Houston before I did, which meant we moved there. The first job barely lasted a year before the company was sold and almost everyone was laid off. He bounced a bit for about 8 months before finding a very stead gig with a company that had a print shop contract with a school district. He has past the 10 year mark working with that company and has slowly been helping to show that graphic designers are worth while.

The How we got to US:

So... his dad and my dad were BFF's in elementary school. But my dad eventually moved because he joined the air force. One day when I was 13, Dad and I were helping my grandmother with a remodel. She got a call from Thomas's dad asking where we were. Dad decided to visit and took me along. I met Thomas and pretty much got a crush on him ASAP (he's only 6 months younger than me). Course, Thomas being a 12 year old boy only saw a friend that was cool enough to be a friend.

When I got home he wants to talk to me and we used old school dial up internet to talk... and we wrote our first fan fiction together for Beast Wars. This kept us close as we came up with other stories together. We met again when we were 16 and then he had a crush but didn't act on it and I was clueless. SO he dated some girls after I left.

I dated people too and he helped me see one was an abusive jerk. At the same time, Thomas realized his feelings for me and I finally got hit with the clue bat too. We started long distance dating after I turned 18 and got married about a year after I got my master's. We have been together and working through our stuff for a long time. We always try hard to talk it out and respect each others feelings. I joke sometimes we've really been together for 23 years, and married for like 18, not 11 and 1/2.

So.... yeah. Oh and check hubby's deviant art page!

Yeah, you’re one of the most notable people on the Tapas forum for me! I hope things only go up hill for you. I can’t really relate since I don’t have depression, but I can empathize since I struggle with really bad anxiety. In this way, I know how difficult it can be to have something that affects your life negatively.
I’m glad you found art to help you out a bit. And I hope things get better for ya!

Oh yep. I meant to put that. I was writing my post somewhat quick, so I didn’t notice autocorrect would strike.

I'm 14 and love to create stories in my mind, but when it comes to paper... I'm not a good writer yet. My two writing dreams would be,
1. For one of my stories to become a cartoon or comic.
2.For someone to tell me my story helped them through a tough time.

To be honest, it is depressing how bad I am at writing, but I try to walk with my head high knowing that years from now my skills will have improved a lot.

I had 4 cats. Sadly one ran away a month ago.

I swap houses between my mom's and future step dad's a ton. That wouldn't be a big deal if my PC hadn't broke a week ago. Now when I go to my step dads house I can't type. Luckily my mom has a laptop I can use when at her house.

My first story was called School e.x.e. and it was written two years ago. (It was so horrid that I hid it)

My current is Two Faced (Cough chough, Please check it out, cough cough)

I love to write.
I like Anime and am always watching one series.
I play Apex Legends on Xbox and Dragon Ball Legends on mobile.
And School takes up the rest of my day.

Not really the most exciting life, but you asked for it.

Last thing, I got the name Arul from one of my favorite series I wrote in case you were wondering why my alias was so bizzare.

Graduate for Neuroscience sounds pretty cool. Research or more along the surgery route?

I’d love to go down the research route. I don’t think I’d be suited for performing surgery, since I don’t trust myself with a scalpel on a living person.

Keep it up! I was definitely no writer at 14 (and I still have my flaws), but you have so much more to learn and so much more growing to do in the area of writing. In fact, my grades were pretty dreadful in high school overall (as average as they come lol). But once I got to college with my focus on a BA in English, I enjoyed myself and got my first 4.0 and never had anything below a B-
I've learned a lot about writing since high school and I'm positive you will too. And hopefully with that growth you'll become more proud of how you're writing!

Love this turn on promoting:

Hi, I'm 18 years old, going on 19, I live in the US, and I am a Psychology student. I'm currently an editor for a small group organization where students at my college can publish their poems, short stories, and other pieces of writing and have them published across the school campus.

I write mainly drama/fantasy stories about young people aspiring to find themselves and reach their full potential. I do hope to become a published author at some point and whatever happens on the way will also satisfy my dream (but becoming an NYT bestseller wouldn't be bad either :P). For now, I'm focusing on school and earning my degree but any writing accomplishments I make on the way will heighten my life!

Hiya nerds, I just had a birthday and turned 24! I live in Salt Lake City, USA, but I also have dual citizenship with Canada, where my mum is from. Married for 2 1/2 years now, no kids (but I admit I'm getting a little baby hungry...) I've always wanted to write books, and have done so all my life. Being an author is my ultimate dream, words and storytelling my true passion, and I try to put that into my work.

I also like taking pictures of food (lol), make dating sims in my spare time, and hope to one day open a cat cafe so I can realize my other dream; to have a bunch of cats. I dropped out of college and honestly, it was the best decision I ever made! It's given me the ability and time to truly focus on making my writing into a career. Fingers crossed!

I'm working on three novels, one dating sim, and a thousand fanfictions ha ha

This was fun!

Seems interesting so let's see...

I am a regular guy about to make its 50th run around the Sun, now in march.
Worked as teacher for most of my life but now I am retired. Always wanted to tell stories and I am a gamer.
Have a lot of things that I created but never shared so far. So being here in Tapas is my way to show what those things are. Instead of let them dusting in my head I decided to give a go. I write anything that comes to my mind. Don't have a gender but I am fan of big epic adventures and supernatural stuff. So most of my works end up being, Horror, Fantasy, Sci Fy and Superheroes. When those does not mix lol.
Usualy my stories have some drama and romance involved though it is not the main purpose of the plot it is present.
Grotheske for example has a peculiar love triangle between two characters. Yes you read right triangle.
I live in Brazil and being an idealist it is not easy to live in here nowadays. My country is not what it used to be and our people is infected with some disease that make us chose the worse politians possible. And is the the same people that suffer because of those. Well let's forget about that.
Part of me writing is to escape this mud and offer a better place other than reality for a while.
Most of my stories are in fact planning to future videogames that I intend to publish.
So this is poor old me.
To know how my mind works the best way is to check what I write.

Sturdy 1990 machine with all its original pieces.
Some wear from a multitude of fender benders. But the scratches are part of its charm.
Added new features in 2016.
Some repairs needed, working on it. Should be done by 2022.
Fuel-efficient, does not consume much.
High mileage, has seen a bit of the world.
Ships from Canada.

I just turned 33 years old, married, and live in the US. I don't have any kids. I'll just say I've had some health issues in that respect.

I've been a weeaboo since about 14 years old and have never given it up. Luckily, my husband is also just as much of a weeaboo.

I have a BFA in Graphic Design and have been working as a graphic artist about 5 or so years now. I used to work at an online marketplace that specializes in t-shirts that people have likely heard of. After they let me go because of their financial incompetence, I now work at a much better place that specializes in sports team apparel.

I also have an interest in science and support all types of science. Recently, I've really been enjoying watching debates on Youtube and usually listen to them while drawing.

I'm also certified in the N3 level (intermediate) of the JLPT. I've been learning Japanese since I was about 14, but not fluent because I've focused more on drawing than learning. ._.

Thank you for this nice topic! Your dream sounds really epic btw. And a lot of fun!

I'm Inky... I'm 26, and a survivor of almost 10 years of retail. internal screaming I got a basic associates but money and messed up life stuff kept me from going any farther. Maybe someday I'll get to go back. I'd get a teaching degree in English and teach highschool creative writing!

I love drawing and writing and gaming. At some point I'd like to do a comic here too, but I only do traditional. It takes a long time and can be expensive x0x

I'm totally retro and gave some really out there references in my writing. Meta jokes ftw. I wrote and indie published a complete rpg system. It took 3 years. Next challenge is to write a novel! I'm hoping to finish this in about a year.

Uuuh, I guess that's me! Hopefully I'm not too boring xD
