Hello!

Recently I discovered an interesting thing. I usually post a new page on Sundays, but recently I was visiting my family and couldn't make it on time, so I posted on Monday at 7 PM (according to time shown on dashboard). I went to sleep (cause it was almost dawn where I live) and was worried it could affect negatively my view rate especially since my comic isn't that popular. But when I woke up I got an insane amount of views. Usually I get 20-40 views per update and the number slowly drops over the week but this time I got over 150 in the first 24 hours. I was extremely happy about this but started wondering: does posting times matter that much? I experimented with posting through Friday-Monday morning but it didn't show any difference.

What are your experiences and thoughts on this matter? Is it better to post on working days rather than weekends or it is just a matter of luck?

It depends where your audience is I think. Like I post mostly in the evening normally on fridays. I live in the US but I think most of my audience is in europe. So I think I hit around the wee hours of the morning for my audiences which means I'm right there when they wake up and check.

I think.

I also note on webtoons I do best if I post an hour or so before webtoons originals go up.

Yeah I'm subbed to a bunch of webtoon comics that are originals. They all go up the exact same time each day if they update. If I post an hour before they do then I tend to catch anyone that would check those comics that are subbed to me at that same time.

I try to update every two weeks and they come at 8AM PST, which is around 6PM for me. I'd love to post in the night or midnight in PST, I think that's when readers are most active, but I can't because I'll either still be asleep or I'll be at school already by that time.

Oh well. At least my readers have something to read over breakfast.

@Rodimus13 That's a neat tactic! It would be an explanation to some extent. I try to update when it's morning in US and early evening in Europe but I'll have to try this out too. Thanks a lot!

@Kazsup I cannot speak for sure because my comic is still slowly growing, but yeah, there're times when no one checks out now. Guess people prefer other activities in summertime which is totally understandable

@azzy-m You can always use the schedule feature. It would solve your problem with posting hours.

Oh yeah, I do use it. Thing is my comic isn't only being uploaded on Tapas, it's also being uploaded on Webtoons (which doesn't have a scheduling feature), and I want them to be uploaded at the same time.

I have realized I get more views when I post earlier in the day (USA - California time) than when I do later in the evening. I also do like to post on weekdays, since that is generally when I do the most of my reading. I figured maybe other people read a lot on the weekdays as well (too kill time between school and work).

I've only experimented with the same posting times as twitter (so both the episode and the announcement can go up at once), but I noticed a LOT of difference just by changing a half hour. I'd really like to know what times have more views for a fantasy comic but the Tapas analytics don't seem to help out much other than what days are best.

I post strictly on Thursdays. On Tapas I post at about 10am. On Webtoon and Instagram I post at midnight (and then again at noon for Instagram because it's behind).

I am not the biggest fan of my growth rate, but I haven't seen any evidence that posting on a different day will change that much.

Posting time does make a difference.

Try posting on weekdays around 4-6pm PST, or around 11-4pm PST in the summers.

People tend to check out series and subscribe to them on weekdays so they can go back and read it properly on the weekends when they have time to sit down. This type of schedule applies to both students and workers.

@azzy-m It's a shame that Webtoons doesn't have that  But as you say, people can catch up later.

@Kimoisempai Posting weekdays may be a good idea especially since I haven't tried that. Those hours you wrote definitely help me with experimenting with schedule.

Thank you everyone for your replies! It was nice to read about your posting "tactics". It'll definitely be helpful when thinking about re-scheduling my comic

I think if you always post the same day and time and then change your day and/or time, you will get more views because you will likely reach people who have never seen your work before. This might be temporary until you then exhaust to some extent some of the people in the new time slot.

Good luck to you either way!

Not a reliable trick, but it happens -nods-

Like when you post two times in a week, it gets you a boost if you do it here and there, unless you do it in a day the site is almost dead

Those are things to do every so often, the most important is to experiment until you find the moment that gets you the best reach in your weekly post

Doesn't always work, but if you only post on Tuesday, you are likely to miss people who don't check the Fresh tab on Tuesday but do check Wednesday, Thursday, etc.
