I'm looking for beta readers for my first volume of my brand new series. I'm looking for grammar, plot holes, character development, etc. Please respond to me in the comments if you're interested in it.

Could you maybe put a blurb and genre of your story. It will help you in finding beta readers.

Supervillians run wild in Haritapolis, commiting crimes as they go. However, Soteria notices that there might be a hidden entity controling the chaos behind the scenes. But no one believes her. Because of this, it's up to her and her sidekick Jonah to scour the city and find the mastermind behind the mess. Though is there even one to find in the first place?

It's a Sci-fi Fantasy Adventure.

Hey, I would maybe try doing your blurb a bit different. I get that it's a superhero sort of story, but right now you aren't sharing anything that sets it apart from pretty much every superhero story, ever. What makes this one unique? What's the hook, basically, that makes the reader go, "huh, that sounds interesting."

Yeh I agree with @candiedcotton. When making a superhero story I think you should ask yourself questions like "What makes my city different?", "What am I trying to say?", "What's the THEME", "Am I trying to be like Frank Miller? Or am I trying to capture Steve Ditko?".

Also what do the names mean? Names mean a million things. Like I don't think Harita is a real word. Also keep in mind that superheroes have been done to death (despite me being a fan) so it's REALLY hard to set yourself apart (it took me a while to try and get people's attentions for my comic on Tapas). Study Tapas and the market here.

I can't stress this last part enough... READ SUPERHERO COMICS IF YOU MAKE A SUPERHERO COMIC. I cannot stress this point enough. A bunch of people just read at New 52 and stop at that. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Go back to the 30's. I recommend checkout out Marvel and DC lists on comicbookreadingorder. It's going to be a slog, but I guarantee you, it'll help you come up with more unique concepts and pick out cliches. I'm almost to the 90's.

If you want my opinion, I think gritty superhero deconstructions are overdone.

Also, Spawn. Incredibly awesome and unique take on a 'superhero'.

I used to be obsessed with Spawn comics (even had the original vhs box set) and it's what set me into wanting to be an artist back when I was a kid.

I have a soft-spot for Spawn. My Dad loves him a lot. He was hyped when he learned about his connection with Venom behind the scenes. Although regarding supernatural third-party characters, Hellboy is probably my favorite. I read his first book and just loved it.

Current favorite comics are John Byrne's Superman, Batman (it's friggin' Batman), Spider-Man, Adam Strange, Booster Gold, Legion of Super-Heroes, Deadman, Swamp-Thing, Phantom Stranger, Doom Patrol, and Iron Man.

New Gods changed my life. Love the Fourth World books. The Bug is awesome lmao.

Same. Also, I freaking love the entire Hellboy universe. I dug the movies, but they didn't do it justice. Still, they were a pleasant surprise.

Swamp thing was also my jam. And Iron Man.

Ah. My childhood is flashing before my eyes.

@candiedcotton I kinda got miffed that the Millarverse was bought out by Netflix, but they didn't even consider buying the TV rights to Mignola's universe with the rest of the Dark Horse characters. I'm hoping we get an animated show. Or better yet, an ANIMATED movie in theatres.

@crufixisan88 As for this, I'm not exactly sure what you're going for. Are they just fighting terrorists for the sake of fighting terrorists? What do the terrorists want? Are the terrorists alien? Do they have strange abilities? Personally, I think this can work but be careful with being cliched. Keep everything I said into consideration.

The superheroes fight the terrorists for attacking the Protagonist's school, searching for the electronic bracelets that gives them abilities and taking over the capital city. They're not aliens and only the higher up terrorists have abilities with their electronic weapons.

I'm interested, it's just that I have a few time constraints rn so if you have deadlines for when you want things read, idk if I can do that.

Especially since you're looking for grammar which kind of isn't part of beta reading. I mean a beta reader can point those out if they spot anything but grammar is more an editor's job. Beta readers are more focused on the story and what it's about, if it's interesting etc. (At least that's what I've been doing as a beta reader. Idk if anyone else has done different things)

Anyway, if you're not going to have any short deadlines, then I might be able to help, just depends on times.

You can DM on discord if you want to talk more about this as I'm more active there. (C Giverny#2878)

Can you message me so I can share my Manuscript as I'm currently searching through superhero cities and themes for my superhero series to set mine apart. I apologize for the long wait to respond.

I don't have a discord account, but you can message me on this forum though if that's possible.
