Question for those who draw comics.

Do you separate your fanart work and your webtoon work?

I've seen webtoon artists keep their fan art on an entirely different twitter account as well as a different artist name. I've also seen others combine their art to one handle.

What do you guys do?

I combine everything into one handle. Having twice the amount of sns accounts would be too unconvenient for me, but I get why someone would want to separate their comic from their fanarts.

I've never really had the pleasure of having fan-art of my series (except from a single friend). However, if I were in that position, I'd put in fan-art alongside that week's upload; probably at the bottom, with a buffer between the actual comic and the fan-art.

No I don't separate personal work from fanart.
I did use to have a separate account for porn art but it was a hassle to keep up, since I don't draw that sort of thing very often anyway. So now any porny art goes under my main account with my real name attached. I'm an adult. I don't care anymore. ¯|(ツ)/¯

I have two separate accounts, one is my personal instagram where I get to be a thot and a few people know of it, and the other is strictly for my art, I barely show my face up there. I don't see a point on separating your art, I think it's actually a good thing to have diversity and let people (potential employers and commissioners) see the range of things you can do.

I never even considered separating it, but I don't think that's something I would be interested in, honestly. The way I see it, it's not like I'm super popular as an artist on social media so splitting up my artwork would just go to fracture my potential audience. By having everything in 1 I can just cast out the net to everyone and see who falls in xD plus something something show off full artist identity, etc.

(I'm also low key just too lazy to separate posts. Hard enough to consistently post as is :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

nahh i just link to where they can see art from the comic. i dont post fanart on the comic page.

Sound like more work than it should. Your fan art might attract people to your original work so why keep things separated? One should try to work on creating an universal identity as an artist. One should think of their name as their brand and having just one and work around that one is more productive I believe.

But if say you draw NSFW art and would rather have that art separated for whatever reason (as to not be associated with just NSFW art, but be associated with art in general), I believe their is logic on that.

I'm one the few here that have it separate. It IS a little tedious, but honestly I don't feel comfortable posting fanart on what is supposed to be my comic's official twitter. When it comes down to it, fan work and original work draw two completely different audiences, and in my experience it can be a drawback if you're known for one but not the other.

I think it's a little different too because my comic is a team effort and we're trying to be seen as professional. I also wouldn't want my personal views meddling with the branding of my comic too much since it's not just a one woman show.
