I drew the first page of my comic "The Archetypes" several times. The first three times I never really made it passed a couple of pages up until now. It's funny to see one's drawing evolution in hindsight. I would like to see yours. Here's mine:

I didn't really "redo" many pages for my comic, just the first 4 and that was mainly because I was trying to "simplify my style" to look "more like a comic". A teacher then informed me that this intention was dumb and "looking like a comic" is such a relative term and to just draw how it's comfortable for me. So I went back later to just draw how I do.

Original from 2020

Remake from 2021

There was still a lot to improve but I think as time's gone on and I've continued the story there's a good amount of improvement since :3

thumbnail versus the finished product (except that I repositioned Chili's word bubble a bit after this)

When I originally started making Recollections of the Prince it was just a side project I didn’t care about much (it also had a different title) then I got invested and had to redo things proper and nice-looking for my own sanity.

His face is kinda funny in the og XD
An even better example of the change is Mev. She looked ehhhhhh…

oh yeah, skip the part where you tell someone your name and go straight to dating lol

Yeah… he was drunk and she enjoys messing with people.

(Warning for implied human trafficking though)

Test page from last year:

Vs. final version:

Even the many years apart, it's visible that you've found your art style pretty early on. How come you switched from b/w to color (besides colored pages do look more appealing )?

Even though both coloring styles are comic styles, I do see how you would perceive the 2020 version to be more comic-like. The 2021-remake is more artsy but imo it looks more impressive. Definitely an upgrade.

I share your experience with starting with a comic as a side project and then getting invested in it. It's clearly visible that you've put much more effort into redoing the pages. The color change from sepia to more reddish colors make it more vibrant too. :+1:

Yeah the original 2020 version was objectively worse, the dumb thing is that the "comic-y" thing was to try and make it quicker to draw.

The 2021 version took about the same time as the 2020 version for that much of a difference in quality, and I'm quicker now than I was so pages still take the same time just look so much better.
